I just finished a very lovely discussion with a very good friend and during our discussion we began to ponder about how many people do something regularly that is just for them.
After this discussion I became curious and thought I would ask. IN What do you do that is just for you?
It has to be something where you can say without a doubt you do it because you want to and only because you want to.
Every 2 month's for 60 minutes I go to a massage therapist. This is my time to unwind and clear my head. What about you?
Re: What do you do for you?
I go every couple of months for a massage and also to get my hair done. Nothing more relaxing for me than a day at the spa every once in a while.
I know some people think of this more as work and a mess to clean up than a treat, but I love to cook. I love to try new recipes so I just tune out whatever else is going on and focus on what I'm making.
I think it is so nice to hear the different way everyone does something for themselves. Something so simple as time to file or paint your nails. This is something that I love to do and will try to do more.
When I chatted with my friend we discussed how hectic it is sometimes to find the time for ourselves and due to life we sometimes can't seem to find it. I know from experience that if I do not have that time for myself I tend to not be pleasant company and therefore know how important it is.
My new goal (I know a bit late in the year for a new year's goal but why not) is to make more time for myself every month. First target is 2 hours per week. It does not matter what it is as long as it is purely and solely for me.
I am going to pass this on and see how many others I can get on board with this idea. Pay it forward and make time for ourselves.
Let's see, I go to the gym and try different types of exercises -- yes, I enjoy this. I go to the spa about once a quarter, sometimes more. I do my nails and give myself a clay mask about once per week.
I take cabs when I am tired and it is late even when I could take the train.
I do a lot for myself and don't have any problems making time for myself. Maybe that will change in the future if we have children, but right now I am fortunate to spend time and money on myself.
Weekly: I work out with a personal trainer and also paint my nails about 2x per week. I also spend time reading and writing.
Monthly or every two months: I try to get a beauty treatment whether it's a facial or eyebrow threading or pedicure. I also get my fringe/bangs cut every 6 weeks and my haircut every 3 months. I definitely feel better after this!
How to Play House blog
I work out at least 3 times a week.
I cook. This is "me" time when it's not rushed or "required". Sometimes I enjoy a good challenge - like salvaging last nights mistake - but when it's "good grief, I'm tired" or "why the heck did you have to eat so much last night that I don't have enough leftovers like I'd planned" then it's a chore.
Read. Love curling up and reading something fun.
Get a pedicure. This is every 2-4 weeks, depending.
I luuuuuuurve massages. Usually go rarely but will probably start going every 2-4 weeks for the duration of the pregnancy. I hurt!
2012 Reading Challenge
Now Nesting from Chicago, IL My nail blog:
You mean watching crap tv or doing your own nails? I think you must be able to afford doing something to take care of just you!!
I shop - I mostly just like to look at all the new items out, but sometimes I'll splurge. I'm a sucker for a cute pair of shoes or a new bag.
I take time to put my makeup on and make myself feel good.
Take long showers and take advantage of H watching Will.
I go to Zumba once a week and also to the gym once a week.
I also love to scrapbook- I run classes three times a month and also can do it at home when DH is around, or fit it in between my son's naps.
I get my nails done if it's in the budget.
Once a month or so I sleep over at SIL's and we go out dancing all night while H is at home with M.
Recently started working out and getting back into reading.
I bake.
I love to loose myself in a good read.
I go out for a latte. Just me. And maybe people watch, or read.

My Blog
I'm a huge reader and have been known to spend an entire day curled up with a book and some tea. Sometimes I take super long baths with tons of bubbles, I definitely splurge on bubble bath stuff!
