Someone Gives You...

$10,000 cash. The stipulation: You cannot save it, invest it, put it towards bills, debts, etc. You can ONLY spend it on something fun.

What would you spend it on?

Re: Someone Gives You...

  • My dream vacation! Which is either Paris or Italy. Maybe both.

  • $5,000 on a vacation- someplace tropical. :)

$4,000 on house decor- curtains, photos, accessories, etc.

$1,000 on improving my wardrobe. lol

I would have said "spend it on photography equipment", but that's more work related than "fun money."

  • LOL.  Well, assuming I am not allowed to put it into savings to go toward our kitchen remodel that starts in April, I would use it to buy us a new garage door (cedar), have the exterior of our house painted, as well as have the jacuzzi from our master bathroom removed and made into a nice shower.  I was at Ann Sacks this weekend and found some major gorgeous tile...so I would definitely splurge on finishes.

Also, Snowful has wanted this pair of Kate Spade shoes for nearly a year so I would buy those for her.

I would probably buy DH a 3D t.v. as well.

I am pretty sure I just fake spent $20k.

  • Since I can't save it for our future master bathroom and kitchen reno projects, I would use part of it to pay to have our laminate flooring put in since DH's work schedule is making it really hard for us to DIY it.
I would use another chunk of it to make some upgrades to our guest bathroom---replacing the bathtub/shower, new tiling, and redoing the countertop would be sufficient for now.

With the rest of it I would buy a great piece of emerald and ruby jewelry (probably a ring since I don't really do necklaces).  Mine and DH's birthstones are emerald and G's is ruby Smile
Lastly, I would have DH pick out a new gun for himself.  He hasn't bought one in over a year or so and he's having withdrawals Stick out tongue.
  • - Buy new flooring for the bedrooms

    - Buy a new privacy fence (we currently have a combo of fences - chainlink and old, falling down privacy fencing.)

    - Buy supplies for DH and FIL to build a back deck

    - Get new wheels for DH's truck

    - Buy a new oven

    - Go on a shopping spree at the mall

  • We would go on vacation, buy new living room furniture and dining room chairs I want for the table I plan to build and then we split the remaining and buy whatever we wanted.

  • Tropical vacation again this May (which we'll be taking anyway...sure wish someone wanted to give me 10k!)

New television for downstairs living room.

    New living room furniture.

ETA: Vegas trip!  I've never been and it's driving me insane.  H isn't a huge Vegas fan though, so I doubt it will be with him.  Maybe my mom will take me...hmmm.

AWWW!  Even if it's just a fake $10-$20k, that was very thoughtful!

I think $10k would definitely guarantee me getting a jetted tub in my guest bathroom, especially if puppywuppy gave me her old one.  With all this generosity being thrown around, I think I'd also throw in a super fancy dinner for her and I when we go to Paris next year.

Really???  That would be fantastic.  You could wear your new shoes and I could wear my new boots.

  • Most badass vacation ever.

I'll take you. My FIL lives there... built in babysitter!! I would take a great vacation sans baby (sorry lil buddy... mama needs some mommy/daddy time!) Then probably buy the hubby new golf clubs. He's been lusting after a new set for months.
The length of a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you are standing on! Photobucket
What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!

  • I would use it to buy a new car. Mine is 12 years old and DH's is 13 years old, so we're both drooling over new vehicles. He needs to stop having maintenence done at the dealership, so he won't see all the shiny new cars while he's waiting!

  • I'd put it toward finishing our upstairs. It'd come close to completing the remaining structural items, then we'd just have to pay for the flooring/paint/furniture.
  • I'd spend half on a Hawaiian vacation. Well, it'd be more like a trip back to visit family, but the money would be spent on more touristy stuff [stay at a nice resort, do some island excursions etc.] that we don't normally do. The rest would be spent on new clothes and tickets to a couple of my must-see sporting events [Yanks/BoSox at Fenway and NBA All-Star Weekend].

  • I'd take DSS to the new Legoland in Florida when it opens.  H and I would go on a vacation to San Diego.  I would also buy leather living room furniture.
