What do you do for you?

I just finished a very lovely discussion with a very good friend and during our discussion we began to ponder about how many people do something regularly that is just for them.

After this discussion I became curious and thought I would ask. IN What do you do that is just for you?

It has to be something where you can say without a doubt you do it because you want to and only because you want to.

Every 2 month's for 60 minutes I go to a massage therapist. This is my time to unwind and clear my head. What about you?

Re: What do you do for you?

  • I play sports weekly, which includeds one training session and one playing session each week.  I get my hair done whenever I need it.  I go and exercise and walk the dog, which is great for my mood.  I sit and paint my nails. And I watch crap tv programmes.  I like me time and my DH appreciates that about me.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • I do my nails, I paint when I'm not worrying about this visa ( lol ), I watch crap tv shows and I go out to do nothing but eat something that I really want and don't want to share with anyone  - it's my selfish moment, for a few minutes. Oh, I get my hair done too, whenever I want it nice. Smile

  • I get my nails done.  And a monthly (or so) massage and/or facial.  Also crap TV.  Oh, and reading crappy books.  Chick lit, teenage vampire stuff, etc.  Lots of random shopping as well.

  • I am too poor for such luxuries, unfortunately.
  • I really enjoy going on walks and taking photos. One of my favorite days all year was when we visited Kew Gardens in the spring. We spent the whole day there and I got some lovely shots of some pretty amazing plants and flowers.
  • I go every couple of months for a massage and also to get my hair done. Nothing more relaxing for me than a day at the spa every once in a while.

I know some people think of this more as work and a mess to clean up than a treat, but I love to cook. I love to try new recipes so I just tune out whatever else is going on and focus on what I'm making.

  • I think it is so nice to hear the different way everyone does something for themselves. Something so simple as time to file or paint your nails. This is something that I love to do and will try to do more.

When I chatted with my friend we discussed how hectic it is sometimes to find the time for ourselves and due to life we sometimes can't seem to find it. I know from experience that if I do not have that time for myself I tend to not be pleasant company and therefore know how important it is.

My new goal (I know a bit late in the year for a new year's goal but why not) is to  make more time for myself every month. First target is 2 hours per week. It does not matter what it is as long as it is purely and solely for me.

I am going to pass this on and see how many others I can get on board with this idea. Pay it forward and make time for ourselves. :)

  • Let's see, I go to the gym and try different types of exercises -- yes, I enjoy this. I go to the spa about once a quarter, sometimes more.  I do my nails and give myself a clay mask about once per week.

I take cabs when I am tired and it is late even when I could take the train.

  • I do a lot for myself and don't have any problems making time for myself. Maybe that will change in the future if we have children, but right now I am fortunate to spend time and money on myself.

Weekly: I work out with a personal trainer and also paint my nails about 2x per week. I also spend time reading and writing.

Monthly or every two months: I try to get a beauty treatment whether it's a facial or eyebrow threading or pedicure. I also get my fringe/bangs cut every 6 weeks and my haircut every 3 months. I definitely feel better after this!

  • I work out at least 3 times a week.

I cook. This is "me" time when it's not rushed or "required". Sometimes I enjoy a good challenge - like salvaging last nights mistake - but when it's "good grief, I'm tired" or "why the heck did you have to eat so much last night that I don't have enough leftovers like I'd planned" then it's a chore.

Read. Love curling up and reading something fun.

Get a pedicure. This is every 2-4 weeks, depending.

I luuuuuuurve massages. Usually go rarely but will probably start going every 2-4 weeks for the duration of the pregnancy. I hurt!

  • I do my nails and watch US/UK TV programs. Spend too many hours on my laptop. :)

You mean watching crap tv or doing your own nails?  I think you must be able to afford doing something to take care of just you!!

I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • I bake. I throughly enjoy it. Unfortunately I usually end up eating most it too.

I do watch an awful lot of crap tv...
  • I shop - I mostly just like to look at all the new items out, but sometimes I'll splurge.  I'm a sucker for a cute pair of shoes or a new bag.

I take time to put my makeup on and make myself feel good.

Take long showers and take advantage of H watching Will.

  • I go to Zumba once a week and also to the gym once a week.

I also love to scrapbook- I run classes three times a month and also can do it at home when DH is around, or fit it in between my son's naps.

  • When I find a book  I really like, I totally take time away from my wifely duties to spend endless hours absorbed in my book. Luckily, that usually doesn't occur too often or I would drive my H nuts. I also have 2 cups of tea in the morning to wake up nice and slowly. That is my 'me' time :)
  • I get my nails done if it's in the budget.

Once a month or so I sleep over at SIL's and we go out dancing all night while H is at home with M.

Recently started working out and getting back into reading.

  • I bake.

I love to loose myself in a good read.

I go out for a latte.  Just me.  And maybe people watch, or read.

    Photobucket
  • I read quite a bit. Set myself a goal of 100 books for the year and I'm up 12 ahead of my goal at the moment. I also just started a once a week knitting class. Money is an issue for me as well, so I have to do things that are low cost or free. The local library is my best friend.

  • I love taking photos and editing them.  I want to start taking classes to improve and understand more when we get back to the states, I'm really passionate about it.

I blog.  Related to the photos of course but I also love writing.

Watch a lot of crap TV.

I sing in a band.  Even though it's not alone time, it's SO me time.  I love being onstage, hanging out with musician friends and belting out a few tunes.

    Now jumping domestically.
