It's raining, again!

How are all the midwest and east coast ladies doing with all the rain?

We have gotten a ton, but our home is fine.  I have actually taken advantage of the weather and gotten a lot of reading done both for pleasure and for school.  I have also done planning for school.

  • oh yuck...we wer supposed to get rain yesterday but I think it sprinkled!

    reading anything good?!?!

  • I wish I was at home to take advantage of the rainy day and read! But no, the only thing the rain is doing for me is making my commute longer since people feel the need to slow down to a crawl when it's raining.

I finished Ape House by the same author as Water For Elephants.  I really enjoyed it!  I started Portrait of a Spy by Daniel Silva last night.  It is a thriller/spy series.

  • Right now it's sprinkling off and on but yesterday set records for rain amounts. JFK airport got 10 inches of rain!

Our yard has drained - it feels like a miracle, and thanks for the vibes! -  but we're not willing to walk on it for a few days as some places in our yard had over a foot of water.  The crawlspace had water in it yesterday but since it's still raining I haven't checked yet today.

Our house is fine.  My cousin three blocks away wasn't so lucky.

Glad to hear your house is OK.  What happened to your cousin's house?

  • We have a high-ranch, which means no basement.  We do have a crawlspace, and that had a foot of water, but it doesn't affect the house, and should evaporate on its own.  Even if we have to vacumn it out, it doesn't affect the living space.

My cousin has a splanch, which means she has a small finished basement.  Their basement got a decent amount of water and they had just installed new carpeting. I'm not sure how much damage there is, dollar wise.

  • We were at the Jersey Shore yesterday so all the yucky rain did ruin all our hopes of getting on the beach.  But by the time we got home it was sunny in suburbia :)  Today it's been gross but not "rainy" and I've just been running errands so hasn't affected me too much.  Hope it stops soon though, it's a little depressing!

  • We got some, but just enough to cool things off (central IL). It's been like high of 85 every day for a week and it's GORGEOUS!!
