My moan is the rain. It just started again. GO AWAY!!
My other moan is that in the last two days, we discovered that the dryer isn't heating, and that the kitchen sink, which was supposed to have been fixed prior to closing, is still leaking. UGH! We have a handyman coming tomorrow to fix the dryer and the plumber, even though we called Saturday, can't come until Wednesday because there are so many flooded basements due to the rain.
Other than that, I just don't want to go back to work! I have 2 and a half weeks until I go back (Sept. 1st) but I have to start prepping. Give me two more weeks ontop of what's left!

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: Monday moans?
First moan is about our house! I think we our house is a combination of the houses from Amityville Horror & the Money Pit. In the past 10 days... (not counting the past few months)... I locked myself out and had to break in & then get the window repaired. Same day- dishwasher broke. We got new fences installed... and the fence guy hit a gas line b/c the utilities guy didn't mark the lines correctly (luckily our house & everything in it were unharmed, despite the hit occurring 2 ft from the house), DH fixed dishwasher, then the kitchen drain broke the next day (he fixed that, too), then... here is the Amityville part... we had this disgusting crazy amount of house flies swarming at our windows. GROSS!! NO idea where they came from or what prompted the swarming.
Second moan... when I was hired, I thought I'd be teaching 5-10 lectures a quarter (lectures in a grad level class) & starting up a lab. The guy I was supposed to be working under left in the spring... so now I am teaching 3x that amount each quarter... (I have 19 lectures this fall) & no time to start up my lab & he didn't leave me with all the materials I need. So I am doing some of this from scratch (I'm ok with that, really), but I didn't expect IT to wipe out everything he created on BlackBoard. I guess I thought the course would remain since the course is still being taught. So in addition to prepping lectures & finishing course notes & such... I have to add all sorts of stuff to BlackBoard & it is sort of a pain! It's more that it is tedious and time consuming and I wasn't planning on having to change much on the course site- but I do.
OK- moan over.
My moan is short: screw GD. One of the benefits of being pregnant is SUPPOSED to be NOT having to diet. I'm feeling really down on myself, like I can't even grow a baby right and my body just refuses to work right. I want this baby here and healthy, that is all, I am so sick of my body screwing up. It's been screwing up since before I was born and I am just so over it.
Hope everyone else had a better, less stressful day than I feel like I had.
Mason cannot seem to get sick/require medical care during regular business hours. Don't get me wrong, I love the vets and staff at our E-vet (in fact now I like them even more than our regular vet), but dang is it expensive!!!! We are definitely looking into a pet insurance plan because he's only 10 months old and we have already racked up $1500 in e-vet bills. I mean we were able to pay it up-front both times (the first time actually paid by the owners of the dog who attacked Mason so we were really lucky) but as the years go on and we start having kids I am sure we're not going to be able to spend $700-$1000 at the drop of a hat like this...
And we need a new regular vet. I'm not sure how to go about this. Our vet is very pricey compared to others in the area (didn't know this before we started) and to be honest I'm not 100% thrilled with the staff. It's just going to be awkward because she's a mutual family friend...
I finished setting up my classroom today and really need to buckle down on prep work....(I only have like the first 2 weeks planned).
My moan is that while I've been given free reign to basically do what I see fit, the previous teacher didn't really follow general courses at all. He taught for like 30 years, so he just did whatever he felt like. For example, senior English is supposed to be British/Western Lit focused......he taught Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, and an american play. Last time I checked dude, American Lit was the junior level course. So I know when I change it, the kids are going to complain.
My second moan is that the textbooks for my sophomore and senior level classes are crap. They were published the year I was born and have no teachers editions. For the sophomores it's not a huge deal, because I taught Sophomore English at my previous job, one year without a text. So I have enough stuff there. But Brit Lit is not my forte, and there aren't a lot of British novels to choose from in my room either. (Like none....maybe 1.)
So I may have to hit my boss up for money for novels to get through this year, PLUS the possibility of new textbooks next year.
