Re-financing

Anyone looking into doing it?  We did not that long ago and went down to a 15 year loan.  Now, I think DH is looking at another decrease to 10 years.

Re: Re-financing

  • We are.  I'm calling around today.  We've been thinking about it for years and have put it off since we thought we'd be moving soon-ish.  It's time to bite the bullet and do it!

I just don't know where to start!  Anyone have any tips???

  • If you have no clue what you are doing, call Brad Dexter at Regent Financial.  His number is 402-955-0880, email is braddexter@regentfinancial.com.  We re-financed with him and have referred several people to him, he's so knowledgeable and gets back to you quickly.  When we build, we will have him do our mortgage again (he's already been answering lots of questions for us).  He's great!  And the process is easy.
  • I met with Brad too. He was great to work with and did most of it through email. We decided not to refinance though because we would have to pay PMI and repay closing cost and we plan to only stay at our house another year or 2 and that wouldn't be worth it. He would have been able to get us a great rate so will consider him when we buy a new house for a loan.
  • we did it back in the fall, call the credit union, they gave us great rates. They could only do a 15 but the interest rate was 3.7 I think. At the rate we are paying it though we will have it pd off in 10 or less.
  • We just did. I hate to say it but I have no idea how the whole process works... DH takes care of it and I just sign.

  • My parents both do home loans and refinancing.  A few girls on here have used um.  Email me at kelwal25 at yahoo if you would like their info.  They work at a west omaha bank!

  • Ugh, I'm so sick of all the paperwork! We have re-financed a couple times for each of our properties (we have 3).  Our broker called us last week with awesome rates again, but we are not going to go through the whole process again....b/c we already have low enough rates that the new rates aren't enough to matter (i.e., takes too long to recover the closing costs with appraisals, title insurance, fees, etc).

However, he quoted us 3.25 for a 15 year and 3.875 for a 30 year.  So if anyone doesn't already have pretty low rates, I would suggest jumping on this if you qualify and can afford the closing.  I think it's great for homeowners, but in general, a bad indicator of where our economy is/is going.

  • We did in the spring, and I'm very glad we did.  For $75 more a month, we went down to a 15 year.  Eric Alquist at First National did our original loan six years ago, and he's alway been fantatic to work with.

Brad is awesome! We met with him 2 days after I got out of the hospital with having J :) I was talking with him on that previous Friday and told him "well, not sure if i'll answer when you call me back, I've been having contractions all day and my have a baby." He was awesome in getting all of the stuff ready for us to make it easy peasy when we came in.
