Don't buy Lifetime basketball hoops

We paid $320 for an inground basketball hoop by Lifetime.  There was a storm here a couple weeks ago.  It blew ours straight over.  It was only in the ground for 1 month.   It was all rusted where it bent.  All the neighbors basketball hoops were still standing.  :(

I turned it in as a warranty claim and Lifetime said that they will not cover it.  Their reasoning:  We backed into it with our cars.  We took it off since it was about to crack and fall over.   It was rusted inside the pole  What.a.waste.of.money.

Any tips for digging out a cement block in the ground while avoiding underground sprinkler lines?

Re: Don't buy Lifetime basketball hoops

  • : (  You don't have the best of luck with house things, do ya?
  • I know it.

I'll have to post pictures of what my dog did to the drywall in our basement we finished recently.   :(

  • Thank you for contacting Lifetime Products. At Lifetime Products, we stand behind our products with one of the most comprehensive warranties available.  Our warranties are in force as long as the product has been used according to manufacturer?s recommendations, which are listed in the instruction/owner?s manual.

When we received the photographs of your system, we immediately reviewed your claim. Our warranty policy covers manufacturing defects only.  Based upon the pictures you have provided the damages to your system are not consistent with a manufacturing defect. From the pictures you have provided it appears that someone has run into the system or backed into it.  For these reasons your claim cannot be approved.

If you wish to purchase replacement parts please contact our customer service department at 1-800-225-3865, and a representative will be happy to serve you and provide you with reasonably priced replacement parts.
  • File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau..it can't hurt, and you can do it all online.  Both of my experiences doing this have turned out in my favor...
