Resume Help re: Education

I'm helping DH update his resume. He has been self employed since high school and never went to college. He sold his business the end of last year and is working now but still job hunting for something better.

My question is right now I have his high school listed under education, should I keep that? If we take that out then I have work history and skills.

Re: Resume Help re: Education

  • I would include it to show he graduated HS, but put it at the bottom.

Does he have an experience summary to kick off his resume?

  • What do you mean?

    I just have Professional Experience:

-then list out employer, job title and duties in bullet points.

In lieu of an objective (which is passe these days), a lot of resumes have an experience summary at the top. In a few short sentences, it gives the potential employer an idea of what skills and experience the candidate has. For example, "Professional landscaper with 12 years experience in design and installation. Former business owner with 8 years experience managing employees and business operations. Skilled in X, Y, and Z equipment."
