I'm looking for advice about two things in particular: mascara and concealer.
Mascara: Is there a drugstore mascara that lasts all day without any clumping, flaking, or smudging? My favorite mascaras are Diorshow and Benefit's Bad Gal Lash, but I'm wondering if there's an alternative that's cheaper. Every drugstore mascara I've tried has the smudging/flaking problem.
Concealer: I've heard good things about Bobbi Brown corrector and Benefit's erase paste for undereye circles. Any thoughts about these? Has anyone tried both and have a preference? I'm wondering which one to try first.
Re: Let's talk about makeup
I am trying out the Mabelline Great Lash (in the pink container) because it get's good reviews on a lot of make-up sites. I really hate wearing mascara, though (most of them irritate my eyes)... so, I only wear it when absolutely necessary.
Re: the concealer... I would just go for it, and try one. Sephora has a great return policy... tuck away the receipt, and return it if you don't like it! (I don't think you even need the receipt, actually...) There's now a sephora in the Wheaton JCP, so it's not too far of a schlep to get there.
I wear the Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume mascara in the orange tube and haven't noticed any flaking. I hate buying "designer" mascara since I don't wear it every day and you're supposed to replace it every 3 months, so I stick with cheap stuff.
I will also throw in a vote for the Cover Girl + Olay undereye concealer. Seriously, this stuff is awesome. It's smooth and creamy and soothing and it does a great job on my undereye circles. When I remember to put it on. Which I should really do after a sleepless bambino night.
I did not know there was a Sephora in the Wheaton JCP. Is it a full-size store?
I don't wear concealer.
For mascara, I love love love Maybelline Falsies (waterproof). It's a little wet as it goes on, but once in dries (in like 2 seconds) it doesn't smudge or flake. I've tried both the regular kind and the flared kind. I like the flared kind a little better, it's not over the top like the commercials make it out to be, but theres something about the brush I like better, it seems to separate my lashes well and the wand is sort of flexible, I dont know, I just love it.

Mascara: I love Bad Gal Lash, but have been trying to use up a tube that I bought randomly - Maybeline Volume Express. It's okay, actually. I have to take off a LOT of mascara from the wand before using it but it goes on fairly well. What I like about $$ mascaras (BGL in particular) is that they tend to go one well straight out of the tube.
Concealer: I do really like Erase Paste, but they have limited colors. You might want to try it at a Sephora, wear it around the mall for awhile and see how you like it. I hate when concealer goes on looking well and then cracks and gets gross hours later. Or order it and just return it, like ch ch chia said.Nope. It's a little more than a glorified make-up counter. I actually wasn't impressed. Plus, there was only 1 salesperson there, and it took forever to get some help. I'm kind of a beotch that way and probably won't go back.

I had that problem at the Sephora in Tysons yesterday and I've had it there in the past too. I'm not one of the group of 8 high school girls getting their makeup done for free and will probably just buy one lip gloss or cheapie eyeshadow. No, I don't wear tons of make-up, but when I go in there it's because I want to try something new and I want someone to cater to me damnit. I have a job and my own money to spend on quality products, you'd think they'd want to help me out more than those stupid kids, I definitely result in a much bigger sale.

But, back to the original question, I actually don't have much help. I don't use concealer all that much. I have a liquid foundation I don't use daily, only for date nights and such. Weekdays I mostly use powder just to keep from getting shiny. So, if I need concealer on weekdays I dab on the liquid foundation and then the powder as usual.
Mascara I currently use Lash Venom and I love it. But, I have used whatever the pink tube/green top from Cover Girl is in the past with success.

I have been using Maybelline's Stiletto mascara for about a year now and I really like it. It definitely doesn't run or flake and it has an almost gloss finish to it...I love it.
I quit using department store or Sephora mascaras a few years ago and haven't looked back :-) For awhile I was using one from Cover Girl that i liked. I can't remember the name but it comes in a big purple tube.
Also, I am currently using Erase Paste from Benefit and I really, really like it. I used to use BB corrector and concealer and they give amazing coverage, but I don't like the 2 step process for application and as I got older with more fine lines around my eyes, I found that it would settle into the lines and it looked pretty bad.
No, it's not a full-scale Sephora.... but, they had what I was looking for last time I went in (some specific UD stuff, Tarte stuff, and some benefit stuff.)
Like SSW said, though - the customer service kinda sucks. I found the same problem at the big Sephora in the Montgomery Mall, too - so, for me, the JCP is worth it for a quick trip.
I use Erase Paste and I love it. It is worth the money to me because it lasts about 8 mos for me. It is also the brightest around my dark circles.
Like you, I'm a Diorshow lover. The only things that come close are Maybelline Full and Soft (but it takes like 50 layers and can flake after a few hours) or Loreal Voluminous Millions of Lashes (which I like better).
Stand up for something you believe in.
I used to have this problem too, but BB changed their formula and now it is much better. I use Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit and it is awesome. Comes with concealer and a little thing of pressed powder to set the concealer. Great coverage too - don't need a corrector or anything like that underneath. I will say that I have found that all under eye concealers work better for me if I put under eye moisturizer on right before the concealer. Helps it glide on smooth and prevents creases.
I've been using Last Blast lately and like it.
I love the Cover Girl + Olay undereye stuff. It's awesome. And it lasts all day- I have to actually take it off at the end of the day with a tissue.
