random question

So I know this prob strange to ask on here since all of you are married but Im recently divorced and ready to get back out there in the dating world.  I havent dated since I was 22 and lets be honest when your that young its a whole different ball game.  Do any of you have suggestions on where to meet someone or have any expereince with online dating or know people who have tried it?  I was thinking of trying that route as I work in a predominatly female field and dont have alot of free time to go out "hunting" lol...TIA as always for your advice and opinions...or if any of you know any nice, single, local guys....lol

Re: random question

  • It's been a few years, but I actually met DH on match.com

I was totally skeptical of online dating, and really wasn't looking for "the one"- I just wanted to get back out there after a long term relationship and was in the same boat as you.

In my opinion it's a great way to make sure you're meeting someone who at least meets your criteria vs. chancing it on random people you may meet out, etc.

p.s. DH never got sent to me as  "match"- if you use a service, don't rely just on who they send to you. I searched the database myself with criteria and he met all of mine- we still can't figure out why we were never "matched" by match, lol.

  • I also recommend match.com. I've heard some great success stories from it.

  • My best friend is getting married next summer thanks to Match.com!!  My jewish friends have also had luck with Jdate.com
  • I know a lot of people who do Match.com - and either are having luck or have already married someone they met on there.  My single friends have said to avoid the free dating sites.  My friend also just tried Ok Cupid, it was ok, but then she tried Match and said Match was FAR better - she got dozens and dozens of replies on Match and almost nothing on Ok Cupid.  I've heard eHarmony is good but you have to commit a lot of time into answering questions.
  • I tried a few of them...Ive been on match.  I got some good responses but some guys there also seemed to only want one thing.  I havent tried eharmony yet b/c they want all the legal information from my divorce and i dont have it yet.  I met one guy on match and we hit it off great and if the timing had been better than I think it would have been a great relationship.  Its a bummer but I believe everything happens for a reason.  Thanks for your advice ladies! I may go give mathc another shot.
