PINK! Clara Hope was born on August 14th at 3:09 p.m. weighing in at 8lb 8oz (same as what I weighed when I was born) and 20 inches long after 35 looooong hours of labor. She was 100% worth it.
Short birth story - started having contractions at 4am on Suatday 8/13. Was timing them by 7ish. Was having to breath through them by the afternoon. By 6pm called my doctor and she said to labor at home a bit more. My mom was nervous b/c her doctor told her that w/ two of her kids and she didn't get to the hospital in time for the epi but I was confident I wasn't that far along. By 8pm I called to say I was 5 minutes apart and they were painful enough that I was breathing through all of them and not talking. I was admitted to the hospital around 8:30 and was between 4 and 5 centimenters. Got epidural between 5-6cm around 1030pm. I don't know if that's what slowed things down (the epi) but I was only 8cm by 6am and of course I couldn't sleep during that time. Then by 9am I still had a "lip of cervix" left...which stayed and stayed and stayed. They finally gave me pitocin around 11 and I was dilated enough to start pushing around 1:30.
1.5 hours of pushing later and beautiful Clara entered our world. I have never been so emotional in my life! Thanks for all the good thoughts...she was 6 days late but I'm glad she came w/o me having to go in for a full induction.
I'm trying to add pics but this is my brother's laptop and it's being difficult...I'll continue to try!
Thanks cshissell for updating the board!
