1st birthday present
Help! I just realized our good friends are throwing a first birthday party for their little boy in a week and a half and I have no idea what to buy them. They're both young, creative people (Dad is a graphic designer) and I'd really love to stay away from the typical clothing and toys and get them something fun and unique. Anyone have any good ideas they want to throw my way?

I got a cousin's baby some books to read for her 1st birthday.
Washable paints/markers and a board are a good idea too! One of my friends got one for her 18 month old not too long ago and she loves it. Plus it keeps her busy for a good 20-30 minutes, which is enough time for a parent to eat breakfast.
