need suggestions for 70th b-day gift
my dh's step grandma's party is this saturday and don't know what to get her. $ is out since she won;t accept it. step mom said candles or stuff to make the house smell nice but that does not seem special enough for me.
thoughts?
sometimes all you really need in life is a pink wig.
Re: need suggestions for 70th b-day gift
perfume?
B's grandma loves rag mags so lately we've been getting her subscriptions to Star, Enquirer, etc...

Agreed!
My gram loves mani's, so when ever her bday or mother's day rolls around I get her a mani. She loves being pampered and deserves it, she's a kick a$$ 85 yo.
gift certificate to the local theater for live productions (not a movie theater)
gift cards for nice area restaurants
does she like plants? maybe a tropical one like a bromiliad for her home would be nice - easy to maintain and adds nice color - in a nice ceramic pot too.
is she an old fart? fancy slippers would fit that bill.
might be too late, but personalized stationary
My mom turned 70 this year.
She got some jewelry, a pocketbook (which she returned LOL), gift cards to the grocery store, gas and also a few nurseries (she loves to garden) and some lotto tickets.
This post is making me teary. I used to get my Nanna those mags, Oscar De La Renta Perfume (alternate with Flowing Velvet as her main gift) and caramel nips. Damn Alzheimers. Now she seems to like Pepsi and bananas as gifts.
I like the gift certificate idea and lotto tickets. How about a gift certificate to something that may seem anti-Old Fart? Is she a youthful 70? There's a place in Orange that does hot air balloon rides- Fantasy Flights or someting like that. DH and I went and it was a lot of fun.
I understand. I used to love to spoil my mom. Now she doesn't even open gifts of acknowledge them. So we usually get her flowers as at least it brings a smile to her face for a little while.
Ditto - B's gma has alzheimer's and these days it is flowers or diet coke and poise pads! The pics were a special snowflake because they had just moved into an assisted living place.
