Hey girls. Just wanted to pop in and ask that everyone keep their fingers (or toes) crossed for me tomorrow. A chef contacted me, and has asked me to do a tasting with him tomorrow to try me out for his catering company's new pastry chef! I am so nervous and excited. I had no idea what to make for him, but I finally chose 2 of my fave desserts, and one that he requested. So I chose an orange and chocolate marble cake and southern vanilla bourbon peach cobbler. He requested a chocolate cookie with butterscotch chips (a bride this weekend requested them, so I may have a gig by the end of the week!)
Everything tastes great, and the cake isn't dry, like I feared with all this rain. J approves of the cookies (brand new recipe I developed for this) So I'm praying all goes well. I desperately need to find a second job. J got notice that he's being laid off, and we don't know if it'll be in 2 weeks or 6 months. It's just a waiting and hunting game right now, but if I can bring in extra income, I will do my damnest.
I'll let y'all know how it goes tomorrow!
