I have lots of work and just can't concentrate...
We put our house up for sale a few months ago just out of curiosity since someone had showed interest in buying it (in the end they decided against it, but then we thought we d see if we could sell it). It was all casual at the beginning, no stress. And then people started asking where we would live if we did sell it, so we began looking at options. We ended up really liking a new project that is under construction and decided to reserve a house with a partial down payment.
So now I'm stressing since we haven't sold the house yet and we are buying another!! This is an expense I was not counting on this year. Sure, I'm happy and excited about the new house and I know that I am extremely lucky to even have the possibility to buy my own home. I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed right now I think, and scared we might be making a mistake.
Anyone want to buy a house in CR?
Re: If only I were a millionaire...
My parents did that. They bought a house on an island where we used to rent a house every summer. One thing after another went wrong and it just got to the point where my Mom hated it so much she wanted out. They found another, much more awesome house and my Mom talked my Dad into buying it before the other house sold so they didn't lose the awesome one. My Dad spent about a month freaking out, but it did sell and it all worked out.
And of course there is my superstitious, Catholic Mom who has her own methods of getting stubborn house to sell. The three times my parents have sold houses they've had trouble finding a buyer, so after awhile my Mom would bury St. Joseph upside down, facing the house, in the yard. She swears by it, says it works every time :P

Love it. If we haven't sold it by next month I might just try that!
I think I'm also stressing because I'm leaving for 3 weeks (I'm feeling guilty now for spending so much on my ticket to France too), and it will be left up to my H to show the house and make sure it's in super tidy conditions to make the sell.

It's not just your mom. Amazon actually sells St Joseph kits with the statue to bury and the pray to recite.
She also throws salt over her shoulder, knocks on wood, etc. My parents had already decided to sell the house, but my Nana came over one day and found a dead crow on the front stoop. As if my Nana and Mom needed more of a sign!
Not gonna lie though... I throw salt over my shoulder and knock on wood too. I tell myself it can't hurt to have the power of positive thinking
