Supercutebenz- car seat question
Dh wants to get the Simpson Gavin Car Seat- I think it's kind of silly that he wants it because it's made for a "racing" company. I just want another Britax, they're good car seats.
I believe the Simpson is made by Graco.
Have you ever heard of them and if so do you know if they are rated okay?
Thanks!
Off the subject of car seats, did A join dance?
Re: Supercutebenz- car seat question
I think we had this conversation at dance one day.
Yep, it is made by Graco. The old version was comparable to the Graco Ultra CarGo, which looked similar to the Comfortsport (which I loathe). Now, it is basically a "racing" version of the My Ride. The My Ride is an awesome seat.
So, I don't think you will have any issues with that seat. It can be a bit tricky to install rear-facing in some cars, but I have learned a trick that might help if you have issues.
Yep, A joined dance but unfortunately I let them talk me into the Friday morning class, so she won't be with E or J.
I feel kind of bad now, and I don't know if they would let me switch.
ETA: I assumed that you are talking about the Simpson convertible for I, but are you talking about the 3-N-1 seat? They have 2. Basically the convertible is the My Ride and the 3-N-1 is the Nautilus, so you can't go wrong with either. I didn't know if you were moving I to E's old seat and getting a new seat for E?
Tiff- we looked at a Bosch dishwasher. It's a guy thing.
Oh, but you should probably show your DH a picture of a My Ride/Nautilus, show him the price... and then show him the Simpson seats and the price. I personally wouldn't pay that much extra for the Simpson name, when it is the EXACT same seat with a different cover.
ETA: Target had the My Ride for $99 a while ago. The Simpson My Ride is priced at $199.99 on their site.
I have serious mommy brain lately, I can't remember sh*t.
Thank you! I must have heard from you the Graco thing. It's the 3-in-1 seat that turns into a booster eventually, so the Nautilus. Is it huge?
We're going to buy it for Elsie, she's just about if not already outgrown one of the Britax's we have (the 40 pound or 40" one). Ian will eventually get her old convertible once he outgrows the infant seat and we'll be in the market for another convertible for him for the 2nd vehicle, maybe we'll just get 2 of the 3-in-1's now.. .. ..
If they have room on Thursday's I bet they'd let you switch, but if Friday works better I understand.
I don't think it is huge at all. It is a really good seat. A lot of people love their Nautilus seats. That being said, the Nautilus is still WAY cheaper than the Simpson one. By a lot. I think the online price was $299.99 or something.
If you are willing to pay that much, then I would hands down go with the Frontier 85. It allows for harnessing by 4" more than than the Nautilus and it makes a better booster.
ETA: I will call about dance tomorrow. I like the Friday morning option, but I would also like her to know someone in her class.
Hijacking post...
Is the MyRide larger than a Britax Marathon? Do you think it has better side impact protection than the Marathon? To me it seems the wings by the head are larger/deeper than the Marathon.
Also, when DD is ready for a booster (when she outgrows her Marathon) do you have any that you recommend for an extended cab truck? We have a Nautilus, but the base doesn't fit 100% on the truck seat, which means I can't use it there because the manual says 100% of the base needs to be on the seat.
Thanks!

I believe the My Ride is slightly larger than the Marathon. It has a slight difference in height and depth. I don't think that one has more side impact than the other.
As far as a booster goes, what is the Model/Make of your DH's truck? There aren't very many harnessed boosters out there. I believe the Frontier 85 fits in most extended cab trucks. It is huge but 20% of the base is allowed to hang of the seat. I am not positive though. I haven't done much research on boosters/trucks since we don't own a truck.
ETA: Here is a comparison post between a My Ride and a Boulevard, which is the same shell as the Marathon (minus headwings).

DH has a Chevy 1500. I was thinking belt positioning booster (for a year or so down the line). She really only rides in the truck once every couple of weeks.
Thanks for the comparision.

Well that makes a big difference.
The Graco Turbo booster and the Sunshine Kids Monterey are good. As well as the Britax Parkway. All of those should fit.
