So how long you you think you'll be in your new place? When and why will you move? Will you outgrow the place? move for a job? or just plain have different needs in a few years? Or is it your "forever" home?
We'll probably move in around 8 -10years. I want to get both dc well into school (ds has a spot in a highly rated dual language program and dd is guaranteed sibling admission), and our house is in a great family neighborhood. However it's a little small for two teenagers and then I think we'll want to be closer to downtown. We may also be considering another career move for DH by then, which would most likely take us out of state.
Our home-buying is determined mostly by dh's work. We owned our last place for almost 5 years, and sold because of a work move at almost the exact time we had planned.

We've been in the house two years, we'll possibly move in the next 5-15. A lot will depend on the market. I'm happy in my house and we got a great deal (foreclosure) but if the market shoots up, I'm selling it.
We won't retire in our house, too many stairs and it's too much upkeep for our golden years.
So how long you you think you'll be in your new place? Probably 10 years.
Why will you move? I want a house on a lake.
Will you outgrow the place? No, this house is huge. I would need to have 5 kids to outgrow it, and I think I'm done with one.
We bought it planning to move in 5ish years. With the crappy economy we'll probably be here quite a bit longer than anticipated. I specifically bought a house that we'd be OK growing into and staying in if life circumstances happen that we cannot move for whatever reason.
Our house is great. It will be years before we grow out of it. We'd move either because we want a larger "forever" home or if we relocate to Cali.
We intend to live in our house as long as we are physically able. Basically, barring some unforseen circumstances we will be there until we are ready to downsize.
We definitely won't outgrow it. We have no kids, and the house is huge.
We plan on staying for as long as possible, barring us popping out triplets or something along those lines.

We bought our house in July 2009. We planned to be here 5 years. It's been two years now and we're just undertaking our first big project (gutting the bathroom). We would like to get new floors downstairs and renovate the kitchen before we leave, which means at least 2 more years here.
We will move because we're ready for something new. I miss living in the city; we're a few miles north of downtown now, in a SFH with a yard and garage. I miss city living: being in a condo, riding my bike everywhere, walking to everything, taking mass transit, having tons of people nearby, stuff happening, etc.
We have 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom right now. We don't plan to have kids, so I doubt we'd outgrow this house. But we would actually like a few more square feet (this house is 1260) for the two of us, and especially more space in the kitchen (ours currently has about 7 linear feet of counter space...NOT enough).
Someday I'll live in a place like this.

So how long you you think you'll be in your new place? Our plan is to stay until our kid(s) graduate high school.
Why will you move? At that point, to downsize.
Will you outgrow the place? No--it has enough space for a few more kids as is and there is a full unfinished basement.

So how long you you think you'll be in your new place? When we first started looking, we thought 5-10 years. Now that we've had such a difficult time, I'd rather just die in the house we're buying now.
Why will you move? If we do move, it will be for more space.
Will you outgrow the place? Eh. It might get a little tight, but I think it will stay livable.

Everyone welcome.
So how long you you think you'll be in your new place? We bought 2.5 years ago and at the time figured 7 years or so. Now DH wants to stay until kids are out of the elementary school which is next door and because our mortgage is very small compared to what it would be on the next 'level' house.
Why will you move? Now we have one kid and one more. It's a very small 3BR starter home in a very HCOL. We bought a house we *could* live in 'forever' if we had to (small house in great school district) we we'd rather upgrade to more space.
Will you outgrow the place? yes, we have. We have one living area so it's the living room/family/playroom/everything. We have 1300 sq ft.
We would like to be in this house until our (yet to be conceived) children graduate high school. We're in a great district and want to take advantage of that.
However, DH's job is not one that provides a "forever" mindset. If an *amazing* opportunity came up that would allow me to stay at home without drastically changing our current lifestyle - we would move for his job.
However, I'm hopeful to stay here for the next 25 years. Then, maybe a condo downtown....
