I am getting fall fever.

**don't smack me!**

Abe's school is right next to a practice field and the kids were out having soccer practice. He loved watching them. I can't wait to take him to an afternoon football game!

I'm hoping that he will be nice and give me some time to do some fall cooking/baking. Breads and soups and apple pies.

Does anyone else have fall fever yet??

Re: I am getting fall fever.

  • with this weather how can you not?

I'm actully getting said about Fall though. I'm having surgery on my foot and will be off of it for 3 weeks starting October 11th. Then , who knows what happens after that. There goes Fall :(

  • Yes!  When we got back from vacation, I had a fall issue of Marie Claire waiting for me.  I'm now getting fall clothing and baking/cooking fever.  I may start shopping for some new fall boots this weekend.  :-)
  • Same here! I head back to work in a week and looking forward to fun things of fall is one of the upsides!

  • I had fall fever starting that awful hot week a few weeks ago! It's so my favorite and can't wait for yummy cooking, back to the corn maze/pumpkin picking place, Halloween, Thanksgiving, sweaters, leather coat, and the smell in the air. Yes

  • Hells yeah!  Pumpkin spice lattes!

  • I didn't have it till I saw your FB post about it - but that started me thinking about fall and now I'm all excited!

September is my very favorite month ever and I am taking Labor Day week off so I'm especially excited for that. I do love October too. Fall is my favorite time of year especially in Maine.

In my new kitchen I'll have room to actually cook and bake, so my crock pot and Kitchen Aid will finally see some mileage.

And then there are the fairs - Matt is actually planning to take a day off so we can go to the Common Ground Fair on the Friday (Sept. 23rd) and I cannot wait. We'll probably hit some other fairs with the little dude too.

Last year at this time I was dating a soccer coach and my weekends were completely consumed by children's soccer games so I am really excited to have a regular fall again and do some of my favorite fall stuff with Matt and the little dude!

  • No! I still have three weeks until I send my baby off to pre-school. She still needs to do more swimming and wearing of her summer clothes! I just about choked the other day when I got an email from Childrens Place promoting their Halloween costumes.

Wait. Pre-school??? Where did time go?

  • I have spent the last two days in a comfy sweater, drinking hot chocolate. Today I am making chicken soup. I think my mind is in full fall mode.

  • Yes!  I got a fall issue of BHG in the mail last night and it hit me that I'm already craving fall.  Comfort food, apple picking, my birthday, meeting my baby boy... I could not be more excited!
  • Oh My God, yes. We are suffering from what will most likely be the hottest summer in Austin history. I think today will be our 62nd 100+ degree day this summer, and every single day on the 10 day forecast is 100+. On Sunday it was 97 and everyone was like "OMG, it's so cool outside!" .

It's so bad that last week, the weatherman was like, "I don't know what to tell you, other than September is only 4 weeks away and the sun angle will be a little lower." And we are in such a bad drought that he's always like "Well, there's another small wave coming off the coast of Africa that may turn into a tropical storm and then maybe it will turn towards the gulf and head inland and perhaps hit Austin so we can get some rain and a bit of cooling off"  One of my friends post on FB yesterday that listening to Austin weather people is like attending a wake. :/

  • Every season, about mid season, I get crazy excited for the next season.  Now I'm excited for pumpkin pies, sweaters and apple brownies.  Mid fall I get excited for snowdays, snowshoeing, bread and fires.  Mid winter I get excited for gardening, rainboots and strawberries.  I could never live someplace without seasons.

  • I love fall, it's my favorite time of year and I love the cooler nights we've been having and the fact that at sunset all the trees at my house are starting to have hints of color.  I can't wait to make pumpkin cookies, and roasted pumpkin seeds among other things.

However, what the hell happened to summer? it seemed seriously short this year. Sad

This is PRECISELY one of the biggest complaints I had about living in FL for those almost 3 years. Not only did I desperatly miss the variety of the seasons, you really lose a sense of urgency and passage of time when every day is close to the same. There was no "better hurry and get a beach day in before it's too cold!", no "time to get the house ready for winter and enjoy one more deep blue sky woods walk", no "oh goody, it's almost spring- time for spring cleaning!", no "oh wow, it's almost summer, time to plant the herbs."  You just floated around like a blob with the calendar just whipping by.

I will say though, I was shocked to see Pumpkinhead on the beer shelves tonight. I'm eager for autumn, but it's too soon for pumpkin beer just yet. It has to be at least past Labor Day. Labor Day should be a celebration with the last batches of Summer Ale! (I better get some Summer Ale before it's gone for the season!)

I LOVE Pumpkinhead!!! I'm buying a 6 pack  and putting it away so I can have it after the baby is born. I figure I'll be able to enjoy a couple around  New Years maybe. LOL

  • I love fall. It's probably my favorite season. However, I'm so not ready for summer to be over yet!! What happened to August being one of the hottest months?? I need a few more beach days before I completely jump on the fall bandwagon.
  • uhm not funny. not laughing. the person sitting across from me is probably thinking i'm really weird by the number of times i scrunched my nose and made a disgusted face reading this post.

I too love pumpkin and fall IN OCTOBER. i really need to block all of this fall noise out. it's upsetting me. :/

  • I love the fall and though normally I would want summer to last, I am ready for it! My body this year decided to stop handling heat well?I used to be a ?the hotter the better? type person and now I can?t deal with it at all so I am ready for cooler temps.

Plus?to me, Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spice Coffee is the most amazing thing ever and I cannot wait until they have it back. Last year we were able to get it Labor Day weekend (I remember because it was our wedding) so I am hoping they will have it in a couple weeks!! Though my wallet won?t love me for the next few months because I buy one every day.
