Re: Poll: The State of the Niners

  • SS: I don't know if I'd go as far to say I'm "upset" about it, but it's definitely a bummer. Hopefully we're just going through a (long) lull and things will pick back up again.
  • I agree with the bummer. I think once the summer slows down we will catch back up again!

  • It sucks, but I think everyone was bound to move on eventually.

I hope it picks back up again so I have more to do once it slows down at work.

  • I went away for a while, but am back. I wish it weren't "dying".

  • I'm bummed but I also talk directly to the people who I'm close with on a regular basis, so its not like I've lost it entirely.

I think its a combination of the fact that there is only so many things we can talk about every day and that the people who have formed "real" friendships already communicate off board.

    Agreed.

  • It's a little sad, but I'm slowly growing indifferent to the board. I feel like we don't really "talk" about anything anymore. Also, I'll confess that I'm baby bitter.

I think thats some of it too. People are at different stages. Some have babies, some are having babies, some arent, some cant, etc. And thats such a sensitive topic that people have been emotional about before so I think it makes posters hesitant.

And for me, I just skip over the baby posts mostly and there really isnt that much to add. I mean even last week when Genevieve posted the "dating poll" I felt like even though I responded it was really "for" me because I can go on a date whenever I want and I dont really have to schedule date nights haha.

Plus, at my last poll I think 70% of the board was pregnant or already a parent. The whole dynamic has just...changed. To no fault of anyone.

I think this has the most to do with it. Back in the day, we were all at the same stage (STDs, invitations, seating charts, biitchy guests/relatives) now we're all settled into life, some are adding to their families, others are getting new/better jobs, and it seems like the Niners are on the back burner.  It's no one's fault; it's just life.

  • SS: Part of me is sad that the board is dying because I do consider all of the ladies on this board as family. However, I am rarely ever on the board anymore, so I guess I've contributed to the dying factor. There are a couple girls I talk to weekly if not daily off board - but for the most part - I feel, like others have said, we're at different stages in life and that limits what we have to talk about.

I guess thats what I don't understand.... you would think, with so many people doing so many different things, that it would create MORE things to talk about and share, right?  And there are clearly plenty of lurkers lurking around... so whats everyone so afraid of?

  • ... and for what it's worth, I chose "it's sad but inevitable."  Because it's true.  But it still doesnt mean I have to like it, or I'm gonna go down without a fight!

  • I voted 'Special Snowflake'.  It's so hard with my job and depending on the way the weekmonth is going I sometimes can't even take a lunch break.  I would be a regular poster if I could.  I truly love this board and feel like I know you all!

I think more of us would contribute if we weren't so busy with work and our little ones..

I think that would be true if there were more of us. But we're spread too thin at this point. I voted for the super sad one.
