Dyson Vacuum

I posted on my local board but also figured I should post here too.  My Oreck vacuum just died after 9 years and I was looking to replace it with a Dyson. They have so many different models and I am so confused on which one to get. I do have a dog that sheds but what is the difference between a regular Dyson and the Animal? I would prefer one of their lightweight models. What model do you have and do you like? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Dyson Vacuum

  • I have a Dyson Blueprint.  The guy from the shop we bought ours at said the only difference between the animal and all of the rest are some attachments.  It's a good vacuum, but personally I think it's a waste of money.  It does a better job than the other vacuums I've bought at places like Target, but not good enough to justify the extra cost (JMO).
  • We got a Dyson Animal a few months ago (I forget what the model is) and love it. In my research, the only real difference between a regular Dyson and Animal is an attachment.  If we had it to do over again, I'd probably go regular just because we never use the attachment (it's ideal for vacuuming up fur from the couch, but we just put down a blanket and wash it when it gets furry).

    My Bio

  • I have the Dyson ball upright, think it is the DC25. I have 2 cats and a dog that shed like crazy and the regular Dyson works just great, not need to pay extra for animal attachment.

I was just talking to my sister and she got a Dyson and also loves it. We both made the comment that our H's really like using it. DH would rarely help before, but now with the Dyson, he fights me to use it.

  • Dyson's arent that great.  I would actually recommend a Miele.  They're much better. and they have pet vacuums. just another suggestion.  I work at bed bath and beyond. and we always get dyson returns cause they are bad. especially the ones with the ball.    just so you know. Miele's are made better
