Re: anyone have a roomba
we had one of the older versions like 4 years ago. i really liked it!! we don't have kids yet, but we have a dog. and the roomba came in SOO handy when we had our house on the market! it would run everyday and pick up all the dog hair, so that the house always looked good for last minute showings.
we had the older version, so i don't think it completely replaced a regular vaccum... maybe the new ones are better. but it was really great for keeping up with the dirt/dog hair in between "real" vaccuming-s :-) ours died recently and i haven't gotten a new one yet... but once we have a kid who's running around playing on the floor, i'm gonna get a new one.
Buy one.
Ours has been a lifesaver this summer during the dogs' big shed. It keeps our house (at least the first floor) presentable for unexpected company. It also is able to get under one of our couches and there is virtually no fur under there. It does get stuck under some of our other furniture, but I can get over that.
Because of our dogs massive amounts of hair, we've had hair get into some places in the Roomba where it wasn't mean to be. The upside of Roomba being a "robot" is that there are all kinds of people who have posted solutions to fix things online. There have been times when I thought the Roomba was done for, but with some online suggestions and a screwdriver I could easily fix it.
Again, buy one. If you have a Bed, Bath and Beyond near you, the 20% off coupon gives you major savings!
We had one. It died after about 5 uses, and because we were just ouside the warranty period (the battery stopped taking a charge, which I gather is a common complaint), there was nothing we could do. Total waste of $$. I was disappointed by the product and by the customer service. Save your money.
Our latest crumb-cleaning device has four legs and barks. We're much happier with this solution
Agreed! Dogs are darn good crumb cleaners!
Yes, we have one and we love it. It's about 5 (?) years old; we had to replace the battery about a year ago because it wasn't holding a long enough charge anymore. Our evening routine is to come home, clean it out, and set it loose (we have two cats, so this takes care of the kitty litter they scatter).
We're actually not sure if we will replace it with another Roomba (with scheduler option this time...I'm dreaming of the day I can come come to clean floors!) or a Neato. The Neato is much "smarter" in its cleaning algorithm, but it doesn't have a side sweeper brush, which I think will leave a lot of little dust bunnies behind in our house.
Yes, we have one and yes, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. We have three cats and I'm allergic, and I run it every day - alternate between upstairs and down - and my symptoms are almost completely gone. I love it.
And it's great cat-entertainment, too.
Seriously, buy it. You won't regret it.
