Would you leave your MBA or any higher ed degree off your resume if you're going for a job that doesn't require it?

I'm really not trying to belittle your feelings or anything, but I promise you that there are tons of other people in your boat.

2 weeks ago I talked to a guy that had 2 masters and was asking if we had any internships, and he'd even take it unpaid. He just wanted his foot in a door. Sad

I really feel your pain. It's a tough market out there.

And yes, put your MBA and other education on there.

    No hurt feelings here.

I was unemployed for 10 months and know I should be thankful to have any job at this point. I was just asking because someone suggested I do that and my first thought was that in the event I did get hired, they'd be pissed and think I lied when they found out my education.

  • Even if the job doesn't require the degree, could it potentially be useful for the job, or is it a job that's in a related field?

I'll admit...I was looking at resumes today for online teaching positions that I need to hire for (specifically looking for English teachers).  I was very confused by a resume that showed the person has degrees in Accounting and Business Admin.  I'm not discounting this person because of those degrees, but I wanted to see the person's background and experience that has to do with English and Education.  I don't think the person needed to leave those degrees off the resume...but the formatting could've been done in a way to include the info while still highlighting the info that was pertinent to the job the person was applying for.
