I had that meeting I was dreading

The one about James' food diary and his weight gain that is not going anywhere. Well apparently I had it wrong. James is getting too much fruit and veg so I need to cut down on that. He is allowed no more than 5 day and I was reminded that a portions size is a child's hand size. I am also to encourage him to have more sugary snacks and I quote 'Use sugar in drinks, on cereals and puddings Encourage sugary foods such as jam, honey, cakes, biscuits and sweets. Avoid low calorie squashes, fizzy drinks and artificial sweetner. Make sure your child's teeth are cleaned at least twice each day'. Indifferent

I just took James to Sainsburys bought flap jacks, biscuits, full fat jersey milk, ice cream and puddings. He is now sitting drinking a milkshake made with ice cream, jersey milk and milo.

  • Well..at least now you know what to do.  It's a rare kid who is told to have more sugar and less fruit and veg.  Hopefully in the near future it'll all even out.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • Oh wait I just read something interesting in the leaflet that is suppose to tell me what to do - 'Remember to include fruit and vegetables they are important to provide vitamins. Include 2 portions daily'. 2 FREAKING PORTIONS! They have to be kidding me. James has 2 portions by 10am everyday. My kid loves fruit. 2 freaking portions?

So jealous over here.  Seriously though, hope you're able to find a good balance for him!

    Now jumping domestically.

Well that was a crazy couple of years.

  • well at least you don't have the problem trying to make him eat his fruits and veggies :) It is pretty cool for a kid to be able to say 'mom said I have to finish this milkshake before I can have my fruit'
