Starting a blog?

So, my husband and I both have some family and friends who are too far away to come visit the house we'll be buying. It's a fixer-upper, so we'll be doing a lot of home-improvement and decorating projects after we move in.

I thought about starting a blog to share with them, and also to chronicle the experience of turning the house into a home for ourselves.

Has anyone does this? Link me? I'd love some ideas, or alternatives?

Re: Starting a blog?

  • I think it can be a nice way to share updates- people that want to can check in as often or as little as they like.  I think only 1-2 people read my blog now and I didn't make a specific one for this, I just use my regular blog.
I just tag home ownership stuff as "street number" (how DH and I refer to the place) and "home improvement".  If I'm doing a specific project I title it "Home Owner Maintenance #____: Some Creative Title".

    Everyone welcome.
  • We keep a tumblr (link below) of our son for family & friends. It's less talk more pictures. But I think we'll link a home one once we buy our next place. Our famiies don't live super close so it's a nice way to see our little family.
  • we started one when we signed a contract to build our home.  link in siggy
  • @shanwalk - this is exactly the kind of thing I was thinking of! Great blog!....we'll be mostly refurbishing, not building from scratch like it looks like you all did. (Although personally I find it frustrating that we started looking for homes at the same time, and you guys were able to build a house and live in it for three months, and I'm still waiting on closing! Lucky!)
