I just finally wanted to say HI!!
I lurk through a good bit of these boards while at work and love reading this one and TIP. After reading the BIG post from earlier today, I just felt obliged to finally say hey!! I guess I should introduce myself a little since I have just jumped on this board - I'm a cajun lady, married my wonderful groom last July (retired marine), fur-baby mom and dad, and I'm beginning grad school this year in hopes of starting my path to my PhD (long term goal anyways). All of you seem great on here!!! Always educational and entertaining :-)
Hi again and I hope you all have a wonderful evening!!!
Re: I just finally wanted to say HI!!
thanks for the welcome ladies!!
That sounds intense! I just work part-time at a local yogurt shop and volunteer on base right now, but before this, I was an archaeologist. It was a great experience and fun for the most part, but it's horrible for family life (10 days in the field, 3-4 days off, repeat until the field season ends or until the job ends). I might try to pick it back up when H gets deployed eventually, but not at the moment.

kacasey276: My DH went to Pendleton for training before his deployment. We've talked about going back to see San Deigo; he's always saying I would enjoy it. And Charleston is wonderful - yall should definitely try to make a vacation to visit the area some time!
kristend33: Wow! Archaeology seems so fun and interesting! I have a friend that is in the field and she is always traveling so I could definitely see it being a damper to family life. I know the track for public policy is going to be crazy but I'm excited about it. I have my bachelors in criminology so I wanted to open things up a bit in social science for me to research and work with.
SunnySky06: Thanks for the welcome! I moved around Louisiana a bit during college but I grew up where Steel Magnolias was filmed; know the town? How long have you and your DH been in Savannah? My DH and I have talked about going there to visit the area but I have no idea where to go or what to do... any tips? Have yall ever visited Charleston?
I'm from a couple of hours south of that area. We've been in the Savannah area for 2.5 years, we live 45 minutes outside of Savannah though, but TX on here is from Savannah so she can give tons of recommendations on things to do in. Other than just walking about downtown and seeing how beautiful it is I don't know what to tell you. We haven't been to Charleston, but we're thinking of stopping there in a couple of weeks when we're on our way back to GA from SC. Anything we should for sure see there?
