s/o Question about paid time off
I'm impressed by some of the paid time off that people get and I was wondering how much that has changed in the time since you started your job. Was it the same from the beginning or do you accrue more time the longer than you work with a company?
Just trying to get an idea of what to expect for when I do eventually get a job offer after school.

i said it in my post - but I get 4 hours off a pay period both sick and annual, and after 3 years it will be 6 hours a pay period, and after 15 years it will be 8 hours a pay period.
My father's company starts you off with 3 weeks of paid vacation and unlimited sick time. When my mother was faculty at Hopkins she had unlimited of both - no one really tracked it.
Public sector is notorious for giving copious amounts of leave out. The private sector severely varies. One company I worked at we got 35 days of PTO per year to be used for everything (sick, personal, vacay) but it didn't carry over. Another company I used to work for we only got 12 PTO days but could carry over 3 per year with a cap of 30 days per year.
When you're going to apply for jobs, if the leave seems low, try using it as a negotiation tatic if the salary is non-negotiable. That's what I did for the company that only had 12 PTO days...they wouldn't increase the salary so I asked for 6 more PTO days and got them.
I had to check the manual, but we get 4 weeks of leave for the first year, 5 weeks for years 2-5, then 6 and after you get 6 weeks of leave, you can carry-over 2 weeks.
The one really nice thing is that while we accrue our leave, they give it to you at the beginning of the year after your first year. However, if you take leave (like I did when DD was born) you don't accrue leave while you are out on ML - so that kinda pissed me off - so I had ~ 6 less days that year.
This is exactly me. I accrue the same 4.62 hours of PTO per pay period as I did when I started 6.5 years ago. It comes out to 15 days per year.

This. And I don't think its faster, I think we get 3 more annual leave days at like 10 years of service or something.
With my company everyone has the same amount of sick/personal leave per year. Vacation per our employee handbook is:
2 Weeks: Less Than 3 Years of Service
3 Weeks: 3 Years Service+
4 Weeks: 7 Years Service+
Of course everyone has their own contract/negotiations so this is the standard, not the norm, and you can carryover up to 5 vacation days per year. The number of vacation days has not changed since I started working here in 2006, but the option to carry 5 days over has. We used to be on a use it or lose it plan.
