DIY types (Daisy, Cooper, I'm looking at you)

I have this old lamp that my mom got for me in a thrift shop when I was in college....I want to give it a mini makeover. It's big and ceramic (like pottery with a dull finish) and has cool patterns in it but its an ugly pink and I want to paint it. Would you just use spray paint or would that come out too shiny? I want it to end up an opaque cream/off white.

  • I would spray paint. There are a million different finishes available and plenty of matte options.

This- the censational girl blog has ton of spray-painting tips and before & afters.

  • Ok-I thought that was the best way but just thought I would put it out there first. Thanks guys.

  • Yea, spray paint would be the best option, in a matte finish. Walmart actually has the best selection of colors and finishes I've ever seen, better than HD and Lowes, Target doesn't have any spray paint, just an FYI.   I've sprayed brass lamps before and it comes out perfectly.  I would think ceramic would be porous enough to skip a primer and just go right to the color.
