Couple of reasons I'm posting this:
- I have a wedding in October (evening at a winery)
- I feel like all my dresses are either 'cute' and more appropriate for an afternoon wedding or black (do you wear black to a wedding?).
- I'm curious what other people wear if they don't wear black. Not sure why I have such a mental block about this, but I do.
In general I just tend to gravitate towards Kate Spade-type dresses (I only wish I could afford one!) - cute, colorful, sometimes retro... but rarely 'sexy'. And then I have the other 'extreme', two black dresses (neither would really be considered LBD probably - not 'sexy'/tight) and then one dress that's dark grey with flecks of silver (hard to describe) and tight. I think most of the weddings have been more daytime or I was BM.
PIP dresses you like for an evening wedding - ignore price/availability, I'm just looking for inspiration for when I'm out shopping (unless I guess you find something that's both reasonable and available). Thanks ![]()
Re: F&BR: evening dress

I think the not wearing black to a wedding thing is more traditional and regional, however, in Seattle it doesn't matter. I wear black all of the time to weddings.
I think you and I have pretty similar styles (sorry if this isn't the case), but here are some examples of things that I'd wear:

Have you checked Mod Cloth? They have lots of stuff that's reasonably price and in that anthro/KS-ish style.

I mean, I guess this is true, I just always thought it was a little strange. Although glad to know it's ok in case I don't find something else.
this made my day
I'm honored to be considered to have the same style as you and I do like a lot of those.
I feel like I've seen it mentioned on F&B but didn't know what it was, might check it out.

Oh oh, also, are you signed up for the KS email list?
They do an extra 25% off clearance from time to time. They have some pretty good deals during those sales.
I am signed up, but unless there is a really awesome deal, I probably still couldn't afford those dresses :-/ boo! H and I are looking forward to having two incomes next summer though!
Also, I wish the KS outlet had clothes, that would be awesome.

i really like this dress..i've been eying it for months, but it's not "me"...it's only $69 right now.....what do you guys think of this dress? i wanted to wear it for the cruise-wedding, but i couldn't justify $120 for a matte jersey dress.

I like the ones you posted! Thanks guys, I think I have a better idea of what to look for.
That dress totally looks like you would wear it on a boat, but I also agree it wasn't worth the regular price. I still don't think I'd pay $69 for it just because it seems like it is both a little 'out there' (not as many uses) and not special enough to warrant the price tag. But I also am fairly conservative with my purchases right now, so take that into account

They do sometimes. The selections are really limited, but I've looked at skirts and sweaters at the Tulalip outlet and I've looked at dresses at an outlet in FL.
that's my biggest problem with it. i have a $25 off at cache right now (it might be off full price, so it may or may not work). what if it were $44? i *do* have something i could wear it for this saturday...but i might not be able to wear it again soon.

I replied when I first woke up and had no braincells.
I think black is actually very acceptable for a black tie affair, and if you're looking at evening gowns? I don't know. In my head, I hear evening gown and I think floor length gown, is that what you meant? There is this silver number at rtr that I have been eyeing forever. It is all drape-y and exposed backy, and omg, if I just had a place to wear it I would rent it in a heartbeat and hope it fits. XD
no, not evening gown, just a dress you wear in the evening
My point was that I feel like a lot of the dresses I have look better during the day, it made more sense in my head lol.
