Computer "Spring" Cleaning- Random 25
With the end of Summer looming (BOO!) and the start of the new school year steadily creeping up on me (double BOO!), I decided it was time to go through and clean up my hard drive on my work laptop. While I was cleaning and organizing, I came across a document entitled "Random 25". When I opened it I was amazed to find it was 25 random things about me! I wrote it almost 4 years ago and I think it was spawned by some Facebook thing.
Anyways, I thought it would be a fun way to get to know each other better. So I'm challenging you all to think of 25 Random things about yourself! Dig deep ladies! :-)

My Random 25...
1. I was never an animal lover until I got a dog at 24 and now I am the crazy "dog lady"
2. The first time I talked to my now husband on the phone I hung up on him because he sounded soooo young.
3. My 4th grade teacher's daughter married my 1st cousin the year she was my teacher and we didn't realize until the wedding shower in May.
4. My mom passed away when I was 24 from pancreatic cancer.
5. DH and I had baby names picked out before we were pregnant!
6. I had my appendix out on New Years Eve when I was 14.
7. My parents divorced when I was 2 and I don't ever remember them as a couple.
8. The first time I met my stepmom (3.5 years old) I told her she would NOT marry my dad... Guess I was wrong!
9. I did High School Theatre and Loved it!
10. I almost died when I was 11 days old but an experimental drug saved me.
11. When I was 19 I flew from CA to NY to meet a boy that I met on the internet 2 weeks before.
12. In my family when 1 person is in the hospital there is always another family member hospitalized too.
13. I did not have any grandparents growing up.
14. I am a vegetarian and also must eat Gluten free.
15. I am always hot. I keep the air conditioning at 69 degrees year round.
16. I have terrible asthma and have been hospitalized many times for it.
17. We got married in Tahoe even though we had never seen the location before.
18. I went on a cruise to Mexico for 7 days all alone!
19. I never opened a book during undergrad!
20. I am a natural born sales person.
21. I take at least 5-7 pictures a week. I'm sure this # will double or triple come January
22. I hate people that ask what I will do with my dogs once baby comes. I just want to slap them.
23. When I was a child I slept with the covers all over my face, many times I was woken up to make sure I was alive.
24. I love watching The Food Network.
25. I am worried that after Lawson comes I won't want to go back to finish Law School, and will want to be a stay at home mom.
Wow this was fun! One suggestion though is to change title I think more people will respond.
1. I have had 10+ eye surgeries in my life. I have a disease similar in nature to macular degeneration. I began going blind at 16.
2. My biggest fear is my eyesight succumbing to the disease and it affecting my art.
3. I have a handbag fetish but I actually only carry 1 regularly.
4. I have always been able to guess what my husband is getting me for birthday or Christmas.
5. I have only ever dated men with a last name that started with an M. My first and maiden also are M names and I always swore I'd never marry another M. I did. My initials are now MMM.
6. I love getting rid of clutter around the home like clothes and books, but I can never bring myself to get rid of stuffed animals.
7. My favorite song is by Tom Petty.
8. I'm a beach girl, not a mountain girl.
9. My dog Lucas is my namesake. I gave him the title 'LouieBlue' because he wears a bright blue collar.
10. DH and I bleed blue for Duke. I grew up a Wake fan.
11. I'm very red-blooded when it comes to fiscal politics, but extremely liberal about social issues.
12. I applied to college as an English major, began college as religion/psychology double major and ended my time at my first school as an art/psychology double. I transferred into my current college as a finance major, thought about becoming a French major, and am now back to art. Thank goodness.
13. I love painting my nails. I only do a decent job on my left hand nails though. I'm right-handed and can't use my left hand for anything, thus my right nails look terrible.
14. I'm the best at making fabric flowers.
15. I played the saxophone in middle school and was in marching band in high school. I switched over to play baritone, which is like a mini tuba.
16. My heroes are Roald Dahl and Sandy Skoglund.
17. I love Forrest Gump and can quote most of the movie.
18. In 8th grade, my History teacher wanted to make a movie about the Civil War. My class got to film battle scenes which involved going to one of the community parks and running after one another with wooden rifles. I played Robert E. Lee.
19. I don't believe in ghosts or aliens.
20. DH and I have all our baby names picked out.
21. I didn't cry when I found my wedding dress or anything else. I only cried when DH and I went to try on engagement rings and I found mine.
22. I am a complete Apple fiend. I love my old school iPod and my iPad. DH and I just last month went to get our first iPhones. Still waiting for my MacBook.
23. We only eat one meat meal a week but I'm wanting to go completely vegetarian, or at least pescatarian.
24. I like going to the dentist but hate going to my family doctor/eye surgeon/gyno.
25. I love animals and will always get pets from the Humane Society. I think more laws and regulations should be passed when it comes to animals and their well-being.

I remember doing this on facebook! This is lifted from there (and only 20 things--sorry. I'm too lazy to expand.)
1. I love frosted mini wheats (especially Target brand)
2. I purposely answered a question wrong on my kindergarden entrance/aptitude test.
3. I would give anything to drive a Pontiac LeMans again. I loved that thing.
4. Time stops when I'm peeling apples. It's very zen.
5. Running races (marathons/half, 5k, etc.) is the most life-affirming activity.
6. I love sewing with a purpose (bridal alterations) and hate quilting.
7. I burned a huge hole in the carpet of my bedroom when I was 16 with a curling iron. Good thing that house doesn't exist anymore.
8. Summers in Boise were the happiest--and sometimes most stressful--times of my life. I miss it.
9. I get more done between 5 - 8 am than any other time of the day.
10. Podcasts have changed my life
11. Variety puzzle magazines from penny press are scattered in every area of my life--I have one at work, one in my living room, one in my bedroom, one in my car, usually one in my purse...
12. The only foods I truly abhor are deviled eggs. More for you!
13. I hate it when people end sentences in prepositions. At.
14. I love Good Morning America. That is must see tv.
15. I wish people would spend less time defining themselves with words and would define themselves more with actions. Live it first, label it second.
16. My favorite smell is when you get up into the mountains and can smell the cedar trees
17. Sometimes I miss my far away family so desperately I want to cry.
18. Sometimes I look around at my life here and realize how wonderful it is that I want to cry in the same manner.
19. Red box movie vending machines are genius.
20. At this moment in my life, I have never felt more loved. I hope I am thinking this same thought for the rest of my life.
This is fun!
1.) I wish I spent less time on the computer/facebook. I am starting to get pain on both of my wrists! Carpel tunnel at 26?! Not good.
2.) Music completes me. I am a top 40's girls although I love all types of music. I'm always listening to music, singing, or talking about it. Yup, music is my life.
3.) I feel like a completely different person in the Summer. I despise winter and I'm NOT looking forward to another New England winter.
4.) I'm obsessed with cooking and baking. I'm always looking up recipes and new things to try.
5.) I'm currently in a post bach. program for Special Education. When I'm done (in may) I will be a licensed sped teacher (pre k- 8).

12.) My best girlfriend (MOH) lives in FL and I miss her dearly.
13.) I am super close to my mom, she is my best friend, and I talk to her on average 4 times a day and I see her quite a bit too.
14.) My dog, Tucker, passed away unexpectedly last Christmas. Christmas will never be the same now.
15.) My first concert was NSync and I was 12.
16.) I love to dance. I danced for 13 years up until college. I now go to Zumba class to fill that "void".
17.) I get jealous of people getting married even though I already had my day. I just want to get married every weekend for the rest of my life!
18.) I still think about my wedding day constantly (is that normal?)
19.) I judge people WAY to much. I need to take pointers from DH.
20.) I am NOT a morning person at all. If I can sleep until 8 I'm fine.
21.) I secretly don't know if teaching is the job for me. I really want to go to culinary school, but I'm afraid that I lose the passion I have for cooking.
22.) I broke my brother's collar bone when I was 8. I felt so awful!
23.) I love HGTV and anything that has to do with homes or renovations.

My random 25:
1. I am a huge animal lover. I was actually a vegetarian for 4 years because I had a hard time eating animals. I still don't eat that much meat, but I'm a big fish person now.
2. Green is my favorite color, but I hardly own anything green.
3. Although I love my teaching job, I'm not sure if I want to do it forever. My dream job is to become an event planner.
4. I love to write and write in my spare time. I hope to get published someday.
5. My favorite show of all-time is LOST.
6. I have a huge celebrity crush on Johnny Depp, a fact that I didn't hide from DH at all on our first date. Must not have scared him!
7. My favorite food is sushi.
8. I want to live in London someday.
9. I love to cook and try new recipes, but hate to bake.
10. I refuse to own an automatic transmission car by choice.
11. I cannot stand shriveled fingers (you know, how your fingers look after being in the water too long). They seriously creep me out.
12. Every Saturday night, DH and I have B-list horror movie nights.
13. I drive 55 minutes each way to my job.
14. I am 100% German, but can't speak much of it, although my grandparents are fluent.
15. I have freckles in the shape of the little dipper on my left arm.
16. I love to do crafts.
17. Once I eat one pickle, I tend to eat the entire jar in one sitting.
18. I have a life goal of going shark diving.
19. Although I like dressing up, I'm most happy in sweat pants and a t-shirt.
20. I'm addicted to coffee.
21. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I decorate more for it than Christmas.
22. I will eat a whole bag of salt and vinegar potato chips in one sitting.
23. I totally want to get married again (to my DH, of course).
24. I consider myself to be an independent, but tend to lean more to the liberal side of things.
25. I would love a job where I could work with animals all day.
1- The little boy I babysit has an ant farm. I hate it. I think it is the most disturbing thing ever. Sometimes I think about throwing it out and blaming it on the Maid that doesn't speak English.
2- I have had many bizarre jobs. I was a lock operator on the Erie Canal during summers in college. Only 39 people on Earth do that job. My sister took over when I graduated.
3- My favorite place in the world is the 1000 Islands. Campsite #35, in Canoe Pt. State Park, on Grindstone Island, in Eel Bay To be exact.
4- I'm obsessed with my dog. I dress him in clothes and slow dance with him in my kitchen.
5- I could lose myself in a lawn chair by the pool with a magazine and margarita for days.
6- I love Barnes and Nobles. Sometimes I go there get a Starbucks and browse for hours and hours at a time.
7- When I need a good cry I put on "Terms of Endearment" or "Ps I love you" and bawl until I fall asleep.
8- In college I put on the movie TOP GUN every single night before I went to bed. The sound of the airplanes helped me sleep.
9- I wish I could remember more things about my Grandparents.
10- My grandma named all her kids with the same letters of their first and middle names. My mother and aunts did too... I plan on doing the same.
11- When my Barista at Starbucks askes me my name to write on my cup I always give them a pseudonym. Sometimes it's Gretchen, sometimes Regina, sometimes Cady. (always from Mean Girls)
12- I met my husband when I was a freshman on my very first day of high school. In the art room. I was 14, He was a Senior. He still makes fun of me to this day that I was wearing overalls and birkenstock sandals.
13- My sisters and I used to pretend we were the orphaned boxcar children.
14- Pink is my signature color.
15- I call my mom multiple times a day. If I don't hear from her by 9am I think something is wrong. We work at the same High School. My sister and uncle are teachers there too. (but we don't even live in a small town-- it's just coincidence!)
16- I tried to teach my dad to txt. Just thinking about it makes me laugh.
17- I have never lived more than 30 mins away from my parents. Even when in college.
18- I wish I traveled more.
19- I haven't slept a whole night through since I was 15.
20- I am the worst driver ever. I don't know how I still hold a valid license.
21- I often wish I was a blonde.
22- I miss having math homework... I really like algebra.
23- I hope the kids I coach value me as highly as I do the coaches I had in HS.
24- I am fluent in Spanish and ASL.
25- I trained and completed a 1/2 marathon in 4 months. I want to train for a tri-athalon. I'm just scared to start b/c I'm afraid to fail at something.
