Re: Refrigerator Poll
We just bought a Samsung French Door refridgerator from Lowe's - we're pretty happy with it.
We basically went off the Consumer Reports ratings.
Egg hunting is serious work.

We used Consumer Reports as well. We have a black Kenmore with a freezer on the bottom. we were limit in the size we could get due the size of our doors in our house.
For the most part I like it, but the way the shelves are spaced kind of annoys me.

That is a side by side from my experience.
I thought french door was the entire top portion was the fridge and the bottom was the freezer.
Yes, that is what I was thinking of - sorry. I *would* get a french door one.

We have a Fisher & Paykel- freezer on the bottom, single door fridge on the top- not french door. Our kitchen has a cabinet "nook" for the fridge so we had very limited options that would fit in the nook, not stick out 6 inches (it's counter-depth) like the previous fridge did, etc. We had a 1/2 inch shaved off the lip of the top of the cabinet so this one would fit. It looks really nice- it made such a difference in the appearance of our kitchen overall.
I was adamant about having a freezer on the bottom, it's much more energy efficient, and supposedly you waste less food, because instead of having the freezer @ eye level you have the fridge.
The sucky thing is that when it was 14 months old it broke (2 months after the total warranty expired.) Thankfully it was compressor related, which has a 3 year warranty, so we didn't have to pay for anything out of pocket, but still it was a pain in the ass- because it's a company out of New Zealand so it took a week to get the part in.
