Weekend getaways -- not too expensive?

Hey all,

I know people are always asking for local inn/B&B recommendations, but do you have any ideas that would be less than $250/night?  Our anniversary is coming up and I want to have enough in the budget to do a spa visit and a nice dinner out!

Thanks!!

Re: Weekend getaways -- not too expensive?

  • have you been to Charlottesville? I think Charlottesville and Richmond are two of my favorite local getaway places.

  • I would add Williamsburg and Annapolis/Eastern Shore to the list.
  • Do you get Living Social travel deals?  They seem to have a lot of B&B offers for various places in VA.

I would also try looking at Chincoteague, if that's of any interest - the B&B prices there seemed cheaper than other places we were looking.

  • I thought we got a great deal over labor day weekend through the Busch Gardens website!  4 days/ 3 nights hotel, breakfast every day, 7 day unlimited pass to Busch Gardens, dinner at Busch Gardens for 2 for 1 night, 7 day unlimited pass to Water Country USA, and we're only 40 minutes from VA Beach, all for under $500, including all taxes & fees :)  I know it's not a traditional weekend getaway (haha, honestly sounds more like an 8-year-olds ideal 4-day weekend), but a great value with a lot of entertainment, for what I think is a pretty inexpensive price.
  • Also, per TravelZoo, $149 for a Maryland B&B package normally $429: http://www.travelzoo.com/local-deals/deal/4628

    :)

  • Ooh, all good ideas ... thanks! I didn't know travelzoo had a "deals" page. Thanks!
  • Philly is a great weekend getaway and there are deals to be had on hotels - check out the Philly overnight deal with free parking on their tourism site.

For something more rustic, there is Berkeley Springs, WV. St. Michael's is nice, though not much to do there.  I've also heard great things about the Chesapeake Hyatt Resort.

There is also Gettysburg and VA wine country.
