Re: s/o: Favorite movies of the 80s

  • My favorite movie of all time is Pretty in Pink. St. Elmo's Fire, also, and some of Star Wars and Indiana Jones were in the 80s, weren't they? My sister loved Mystic Pizza and I've grown to love that one in recent years too.

  • When I was a kid in the 80's I wasn't allowed to watch anything above PG and most teen movies were off limits so those I didn't see until I was older. I wasn't even allowed to see E.T. when it came out (I was 4) so I didn't see that until HS.

AoGG 1 & 2, The Neverending Story, Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, Breakfast Club, Better Off Dead, When Harry Met Sally, Fame, Return of the Jedi. I'm sure there's more but that's off the top of my head.

  • anything by John Hughes, Howard Deustch (sp?) and David Lynch

  • The first movie that came to my mind is Adventures in Babysitting. It wasn't the best movie of the 80s, but it holds a special memory to me. It was the movie that my childhood friend/neighbor and I watched together and made us think of your future. We were both wondering if we'd ever had a chance to be independent women and maybe to visit the USA one day...
  • D'uh how could I forget the Vacation movies? And Goonies and Spaceballs. Saw them all much later, of course. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids was my favorite in like 6th grade. Oh and Big, of course. And when I was a kid I loved the Ernest movies. They were as adult as I could see at the time.
  • I don't know what is 80's or 70's

Oh and Rocky? Was that 80's ?

  • Probably Pretty in Pink, but I'm a sucker for most teen/kid 80s B movies like Can't Buy me Love, Teen Witch, Pippi Longstocking, etc.
  • Dirty Dancing, Sixteen Candles, Mystic PIzza, Pretty In Pink... I'm sure there's more!
