Ah, the ongoing saga of my neck lump!
I went to a highly recommended ENT today for a second opinion (the first referral was a general surgeon who specializes in gastric bypass - he pretty much told me to leave it in and see what happens, or take it out and have it biopsied).
The ENT was awesome and very thorough (Dr. Iris Moore - thanks for the rec!). I have a CT scan scheduled for Monday at 9:30 a.m. with an ENT appointment immediately following. The scan is to see if there are any inflamed lymph nodes beyond this one, among other things. I still may ultimately need to have the lump removed and biopsied no matter what. I don't remember all of the terminology she used when she was dictating into her dictaphone and to the nurse, but it was impressive. lol.
Also, poor Blythe has a clogged tear duct and is having a ductal probe procedure on the 25th (a week from Thursday). In the meantime, her eye is super red and goopy and keeps closing shut. I feel terrible for her but she is in good spirits all of the time other than when I'm wiping her eye with a warm cloth ![]()
I know these things are relatively minor and hopefully my lump will turn out to be nothing or nearly nothing, but it's kind of a lot for one week - Monday CT scan & appt for me, Tuesday pedi appt for Blythe to clear her for surgery, and then Thursday morning ductal probe. And then I'm doing a wedding that next weekend so I'll be working flat out on that.
And then my dad is having his annual battery of tests relating to his heart transplant, so he has to be at the hospital laying flat on his back for 8+ hours on Thursday, with some tests tomorrow. Poor dude.
I don't know what my purpose is for posting all of this other than maybe sending some extra thoughts or prayers over to B with her awful eye situation, and that my neck lump can be easily resolved and is not lymphoma or something serious.

Re: minor medical issues of our fam, cont'd - holler for neck lumps
Holy crap, I didnt know you were dealing with this.. sorry dude.
That aside, its obvious that your twin is attached to your neck. I hope it has teeth!!
(T&P's)
T & P headed your way!
BTW my father-in-law also had a heart transplant years ago. A friend of mine (a nurse) used to coordinate organ transplants between the family of the donor and that of the recipient. I just think organ donation/transplants are fascinating.
You have a lot on your plate right now--hope you can find a little peace and rest in the midst of this!
Ditto this exactly. Sorry to hear about all this.
Good luck with your bibopsy.
omg, you read my MIND!! I was just going to say "ooh, what if its a life sucking twin that has teeth and a spine and has been growing on your neck for the last 30 years).
But, I hope its not. IF it is, you totally have to name it, and post pics - I love that sick medical stuff.
You'll make it through - and yes, hello, that IS a lot of stuff all in one week - it would be overwhelming for me - because probably like you, we get into a nice little routine and like things quiet and peaceful - then when life throws you wrenches like this, it stresses you out!
I think a beer is in order - and I SHALL be able to drink with you soon! I might even have an import beer in tribute to your twin
1. On a serious note, that is a whole lot of stressful stuff & I will be thinking of your family & hoping everything goes smoothly.
2. I absolutely cannot say the word biopsy anymore. Strictly bibopsy. My medical friends sometimes look at me sideways = who cares.
Oooh, if it's a hairy, tooth twin, you might get on tv! I'd totally watch you!
(Just kidding. Very very best wishes that everything comes out just perfect.)
Holy cow, we're going to have a little sister!!
