QOTD

Have you kept any of your childhood toys?

I have all my books, barbies, baby dolls, troll dolls. They are all at my mom's house in storage.

Re: QOTD

  • Luckily my parents have a huge basement because my mom and I are both huge packrats. I have boxes and boxes of toys and notes from friends and boys from elementary and middle school stored in their basement. Luckily my house doesn't have a basement!

  • No, just the sentimental things like the rocking horse and firetruck my dad built.  I have all of the steiff bears my grandparents brought me from germany also.

All the other toys were either donated to my mom gave to a lady she scrapbooks with who had 2 young kids.

  • I've gotten rid of a lot over the years, especially once I had decided I wasn't going to have children.

I do still have the small rocking chair my godfather gave me as a toddler.  I have kept it out of sentimental reasons for my godfather, I'm sure (he died when I was 15, over 25 years ago), but then again, I also have a small wooden plaque that says "Love You!" on it and my silver ducky bank that he gave me, too, and I could easily separate from the chair and not lose much of anything.

Anytime i make the decision to get rid of it (it's been in our storage unit) I make the decision and start to cry, and Robert talks me out of it, encouraging me to keep it if it upsets me that much.

  • I still have my Pound Puppy (named Pound Puppy) that I got when I was two. He is in impeccable shape despite the fact I slept with him every night until L and I got married.

I once made my mom drive an hour-and-a-half to my aunt's house where I accidentally left him because I could not/would not sleep without him.

When L and I got married, he said: "If our real dog can't sleep with us, your toy can't either".  That was the end of that and Pound Puppy retired to the hope chest where I get him out and sleep with him when L is out of town. Embarrassed

This is too cute for words.

I think there is a bunch of stuff at my mom's house that she breaks out for the grandkids. I was actually really disappointed that I didn't get any homemade blankets at my shower (because all the people that gave them to my sister have passed) and told my mom. She said she has a couple that she kept from when I was little, including a Raggedy Ann and Andy one that I had FOREVER. I was upset with this blanket.

  • I have most of my stuffed animals and a few figurines.

  • I had a lot of stuff saved but a few years my mom went through and cleaned out a bunch of things so I am honestly not sure what is left. I know that my barbies, and some stuffed animals are up in the attic and all my polly pockets are in my bedroom.

ditto.  I know I have most of my stuffed animals (my mom has forced me to weed out some over the years, but I kept any really sentimental ones or collectable.) I have pretty much all of my barbies. I think I still have my trolls, maybe a few my little ponies.  I have a few books as well.  Mostly my favorites.

  • Yeah, I have a few things. It's all in a giant box in our storage unit. I'm actually not sure what exactly is in there but I know it's mostly old school projects/paintings etc. I have a few stuffed animals from childhood in storage too.

  • Tons and tons of books. My mom took a lot of mine in to her classroom or donated them to the teachers for higher grades when I grew out of them. So from birth-2nd grade our kids will be set with reading material and games that promote learning.

I have a doll collection (Madame Alexander) that is still at my parents house and will probably stay there for a while because they creep Drew out a bit. There are a few stuffed animals still as well. When my parents moved we donated a lot of my old kid stuff.

I actually have in our house my teddy bear that my dad bought in the hospital gift shop when I was born- over 30 years and two replacement noses later, I still love him.

  • I have my barbies, a few select stuffed animals and a cabbage patch doll that my grandma made for me (before the ones with the plastic faces sold in stores).   I also have a cradle my grandfather made before he passed away.  I also have a plastic tub full of memorabilia from childhood through college.

  • I had a few childhood things that I was saving, but Hurricane Katrina washed it awayCrying Ughh, I lost childhood pictures, my baby book, and various art work that I did when I was a child.

I still sleep with my baby blanket, no matter if Dh is home or not. And I took it on our honeymoon. I've never slept without it. Everyone kept telling me to give it to LO, I wont do it. So my mom knitted her one.

  • Yeah, like Mar, I still sleep with both of my baby blankets. Every night, home or on vacation, they go with me everywhere.

  • This post makes me so sad :(.  All of my stuff is still at my father's house...well that is if he never threw it out.  I think about my old toys all the time.  I LOVED my Barbies and my dolls (hello Cricket) and I SO wish I could get them so if I ever have a daughter she can at least look at the stuff.  I also would love to play a game of Mall Madness or read a few Babysitter Club Books for fun.

Maybe I need to bring Mall Madness with me in a few weeks.  I still have it, as well as the Babysitter's Club board game.  I have ALL of my old board games!

  • Lol I have my baby blanket too and its always with me. My family said I'd have to get rid of it when I got married - um. no. And then they said when Campbell came - um. no. When I die, they'll need to bury me with it. :P

All my childhood toys are at my parent's. My Barbie Dream House is what I can think of in particular but I know all my cabbage patch kids are there too and my Carebears.
