Any fun things to do in Mankato?

We are headed down to Jackson, MN next weekend and I think we are going to go through Mankato instead of the freeway in hopes of finding something to do.

Any fun things to do in Mankato? We will have our 2 year old with, any family friendly good restaurants? I have never been to Mankato to stop, just drive through.

  • All I know is there is a Hobby Lobby there, which is a must-stop for me!

This is the main reason I want to go this route, but I will only be able to talk DH into it if I find something for him and LO to do. :)

  • Sibley Park has a nice playground and some animals.  If you are around Hobby Lobby, you can go to the River Hills Mall and ride the carousel.  The food court there is a good size also.

Kato has your typical chain restaurants.  Most are "on top of the hill" close to Hobby Lobby and the mall!

Hope this helps! Sorry there isn't much!

If you do this you must must must get a chicken schwarma from Massad's! The sauce is drinkable, although you may need a mint afterwards:)

  • Good Call!  The Massad's is delish and locally owned by a very nice family!  Watch out, you will be sweating garlic all day though!
