One of the questions below asked me what I love about my job, and I said the students. Here's why.
I received a facebook message from a former band member asking me where I used to get donuts for newspaper sales and how many are enrolled in band. I, of course, inferred that some former band kids were buying donuts for my class tomorrow. The one who messaged me said that I needed to pretend to be surprised, as I'm not supposed to know.
So, tomorrow, former students and five dozen donuts are going to show up in my band room first hour, welcoming the first students. Who needs to recruit when you have alumni that essentially do it for you? I'm touched. I know it's just donuts, but it's a sweet gesture. Literally and figuratively lol.
