Well that was awkward..

I went into dollar tree earlier with older DD and balancing the baby on my hip to buy some pregnancy tests. Its hot outside so I was a little sweaty and just felt like a country bumpkin lol. Maybe it was my pink gingham top? Anyways the test was negative thank God. I was pretty sure it was seeing how we had fertility problems but I just wanted to rule it out because I have been feeling so run down. Being heavily pregnant has nothing on this. Somedays I feel like a 50 yr old. The baby has been sleeping through the night for awhile but now momma ain't sleeping through the night. My mom is pretty sure all the breastfeeding is depleting me and that may be part of it but I'm pretty sure my hormones and probably thyroid is all out of whack.

  • You definitely have to up your calories while bf-ing. Lots of water and lots of calories!
  • I would check your thyroid - usually that does a number on your energy levels.  And agree with extra calories - make sure you are eating and drinking enough.
  • You baby is about the exact age Luca was when I found out I was pg with Lila.  Imagine that test being +...  I cried for a month!!!!
  • If you decide to go to the dr. for your thyroid see if they will check your vitamin D levels. Mine were crazy low after having our son.

Just a thought and hope you start feeling better soon.

  • Yes I hope to go to the doc in the next 2 weeks or so. I start work next week. I imagine it's going to be tough getting up and starting my day at 5. Especially since I've been waking up at 3am for no reason. Night after night. I go back to sleep but it's a disturbance on me getting a good nights rest. I always take a prenatal but just started B-12 yesterday. I also want to get magesium because it might help sleep. I read being low on magnesium could be responsible for alot of things. I have been drinking tons of water and try to eat alot, but of course somedays it's hard with the baby

Ditto - Vitamin D deficiency is also a very common energy drainer.

  • Get your thyroid checked!  I needed a higher does of synthroid postpartum, then it went back down, and then up again.  The hormone changes mess everything up.  Hope you feel better!
My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.
  • Evan is almost a year and a half and I am just now getting my hormone levels worked out. I have been working with my OB and then an endocrinologist for a year. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

  • Be sure to eat, eat, eat.  My husband jokes that me while breastfeeding is a good preview into having a teenage son.  I serioulsy eat allll day long, and if I don't I feel very run down.  I hope you start being able to rest soon, and it all gets evened out.
