Best Icecream

Where is your favorite place to get icecream?

Bonus point if it is close to SLP, Golden Valley, Edina, etc.

Extra bonus points if it is actually custard!

And go....

Re: Best Icecream

  • Nowhere near the area you want, but Nelson's in Stillwater is the absolute best!

  • Adele's Frozen Custard!  (in Excelsior)

Sebastian Joe's (2 locations- in Linden Hills, or off of  Hennepin & Franklin)

  • Izzy's in St. Paul, nowhere near you but incredible and actually compares to custard!
  • I am currently IN LOVE with Izzy's Maple Nut (I buy it at Mississippi Market).  But I also love Grand Ole Creamery.
  • Sebastian Joe's is the best! They had a specialty flavor this spring called "Nicollet Pothole" that was amaaaaaazing - dark chocolate ice cream with sea salt, toffee and caramel (not sure if it's still around, but it was super delish).

Edina Creamery at 50th & France is also pretty good.

  • There's a little place on Rice St near Maryland Ave in St. Paul.  I can't think of the name offhand, but it's rather old-fashioned feeling...like something from the 50s.  The maplenut is to die for.
  • I like Izzy's. Not near you though.

I am sad I never made it to Liberty Custard before they closed. I know people who when there weekly!

Conny's Creamy Cone!  I've only tried other stuff there since I'm lactose intolerant though so I can't vouch for it personally.

  • My DH and I love Adele's in Excelsior.  We went there on our first date and try to get there for a lot of our special occasions as a tradition.

I have been to Pumphouse Creamery on Chicago Ave in Mpls and I loved their banana ice cream.

We also recently went to Freeziac in Eden Prarie.  It is a frozen yogurt place where you make your own dish. they have TONS of toppings and you pay by weight so you can add as much or as little as you want.  They also have a new location coming in Plymouth.  I liked it but custard is way better ;-)

  • I love Grand Ole Creamery - I usually go to St. Paul, but there's also one in south Minneapolis on Cedar, just north of Lake Nokomis.

  • I'm a NE Cities girl, so I have a huge place in my heart for Cup and Cone.  I remember going there after tee ball with my parents and standing in line forever to get a crunch cone.  I still do that whenever I'm in WBL and I'm super excited to be able to do that with my daughter for the first time this year.

I didn't know there was one in Mpls, too. I've only been to the one in St Paul (usually after Punch Pizza. Another yum.)

  • Izzy's without a doubt - their Salted Caramel is nothing short of heavenly!

I LOVE cup n cone for soft serve. SO much better than anywhere else, and super cheap.
