  • Ummm.  That is weird.  I've been to that house, several times.  One of DH's former bosses lived there.  We went to a couple of Christmas parties there, and a couple of other functions.

  • Well, that house really is NMS but for that price, there are some gorgeous houses way closer in to the city. that is my priority, not everyone's i know, but ppl always go on and on about how living in town is so pricey but you can find something very nice in the $600k range.

here is the house i love-- waaaay out of my price range too, but it's perfect for me. historic but very simple inside for my more mod taste

Look from "lowest to highest".  There are plenty in 77024 under $1.4 mil... You can buy a fixer upper for for $400K...  and something decent (older but decent) in the $600-800K range.   However, it's fun to look at the big ones and wonder "what they heck do they do to afford a house like that?" :)

OK. After the 10th page, t here were no more houses but I saw that they limited it to the 1st 100 so when I adjusted how I was searching, it showed me more.

There are some nice ones on the market right now. if you're in the $900k range, you can live next door to my good friends on Omar ;)

The thing is, most of the big houses that are selling in WH are new construction. While we may eventually end up in one, we prefer at least 70 years old, which is what makes this one so perfect.

ME TOO!  I LOVE our new house, but holy crap, 77024 is gorgeous.  Whenever I drive by there/through there now, I'm just in awe.

  • As much as I loved growing up on the west side of town, I would never pay that much money to live in a suburb.  If I had that much money to spend, I would definitely live in a smaller property inside the Loop.  With a pool.

We moved out of the Heights exactly two years ago. While I really enjoy our neighborhood and our house, I would love, love, love to live in that house. Not only would I have to be able to afford the house itself, but also a decorator to make it look that amazing when I lived there. My random collection of furniture would never do it justice.

DH dreams of building secret passage ways and tunnels.  Think bat cave meets 007 toys.

  • in all honesty, home is wherever DH is.  city, country, suburbs, deserted island.  i'm pretty sure i could find a way to be very happy anywhere.

rayskit10, that porch is my favorite part of the whole house!

Yeah, that sucks. Now all I see is everything thats wrong.

Thank goodness I found my real dream house, which I can afford. :)

  • Rayskit - I love the 1930s bungalow style and would adore that house.  Gah!

Warontv- As the wife of a guy with a big truck and a lot of outdoor toys (including the recent 15' kayak stuffed in our little garage), I can see so many wonderful things about that house!  It looks ridiculously large from the front but when you see that the entire bottom floor of the building on the right is a garage, it changes your perspective.  To have enough storage for our 2 cars and all the outdoor stuff (and a boat which DH would want if we could afford a house like that), we would need a 4 car garage if not 5 car.  And if that area above the garage has some privacy and an outdoor exit in which one of those electric sliding stairway seats could be installed, it'd be perfect to move my IL's into.

I don't like all that carpet, but that can be easily changed.  Other than that, I think the house is great.  I love city living, but my husband would be much happier in a more removed location like that.

And... these people probably have a lakehouse so they don't require a pool.  I'd just put one in if I could afford the joint.
