No air conditioning in new office - Vent

I was a teacher and now I am a school counselor. I love my principal. I have an office, a phone and can go to the bathroom whenever I want. Here is the bad part I went from a nice air conditioned classroom which nobody has to a office without air and it has been over 90 degrees. Hopefully it cools off before school starts.

Re: No air conditioning in new office - Vent

  • Are all the offices without air conditioning, or just yours?  If it's just yours, I would ask them about it.
  • I have the opposite problem.  They crank the AC SO high in one of my offices that I have to wear a coat inside.

Yes, I've talked to management about it, and yes it has been escalated to the maintenance department, and no, there's nothing they can do about it.

  • We don't have such a thing as air conditioned classrooms around here...Schools started this week and it is a sauna in my classroom. One of my kids today (I teach K) said, "I'm just so hot and tired!"

  • There is no way I am getting air. The buildings are old.

  • Blech!  I hate being in the schools when it's hot out.

Luckily, my room has A/C because it's a computer lab.  I'd say there are only 5 rooms with A/C in my whole building though - all computer labs.

  • Can you not get a window unit, or at the very least, a fan?

I work in an old building with spotty a/c. My classroom has a window unit to help. My band room is awful when school starts, no matter what we do, because I have 44 kids blowing hot air at me. I've sweated through my clothes before first hour was over more days than not so far this year (started August 18). You're not alone.
