With our one year anniversaries right around the corner I was wondering, do you and your spouses have any big plans? Do you plan to exchange gifts? and if so - what?
DH and I have decided to do an Anniversary trip to Ft. Lauderdale for a long weekend. We'll do this instead of gifts, and hopefully make it an annual tradition
Re: Anniversaries
That sounds like fun!
To be honest, DH and I haven't even discussed it. We'll probably go to our favorite steakhouse for dinner and then just hang out at home, watching movies or something.
I can't believe that our anniversaries are right around the corner! We're trying to plan a trip and I think we've settled on going to Vegas. Now just trying to decide between hotels.
I might get him a small gift and keep it within the "traditional" gifts category, so this year it will be something to do with paper.
I too am shocked our anniversaries are right around the corner! Yikes!
Our gorgeous reception venue (with amazing food), treats you to a free dinner on your 1-year anniversary, so we definitely have dinner planned. They also gave us a bottle of champagne with a customized label (our names and date on it), so it seems appropriate to drink that too! But I also need to plan something extra special for him. I feel like we've had a hard year with fertility stuff, long work hours for low pay, and just way too many extended family obligations. We're pretty worn out. So yeah, I need to wow him with something. Just not sure what yet.
We're going to Peru! It's our honeymoon, and it will be in October, but it's like an anniversary trip.
Zara -- that's great that you can have dinner at your reception venue. I might borrow that idea (our venue doesn't do anything free, but we could have dinner there). Our cake place does do an anniversary cake, which DH has been looking forward to since the wedding!
Yea I'm totally gonna have to steal the dinner at the reception venue idea - its perfect for us because our reception was at a restaurant. Love that idea!

We did a wine ceremony at the wedding where we wrote each other a letter about the time leading up to the wedding and what we hoped for in the next year, why we decided to get married, etc. We'll open them that day and write new ones for the upcoming year.
Depending on the weather (I'm hoping for snow by then), we were planning on heading up towards the Boundary waters in MN and going dogsledding adn staying at a B & B if not pregnant. If we are we are planning on heading to the Keys for a extra long weekend.
If for some reason we are stuck in town, I'll definitely scam the dinner idea as well. The caterer is affiliated with one of the best restaurants in town - so that would be fun too. We are definitely getting a hotel somewhere for the weekend though. I already made dogcare reservations.
Linds, Temurlang - Oooh yum, I love the idea of an anniversary cake from the same bakery! I think I will steal that idea now lol.
And yes, totally go back to your reception venue! I am definitely looking forward to spending a nice evening there and reminiscing over the past year.
