Anyone have/had ovarian cysts?
I was diagnosed with a fairly large one today - over a week of worsening abdominal pain finally forced me to find a dr and go in. 1 exam, 1 ultrasound, 1 x-ray, and a gyno appt (ALL in the same day) and they discovered it's a complex hemorrhagic (blood filled) cyst. Never in my life had issues like this, so it was kind of a shock.
The OB said it might resolve on it's own, or it might rupture causing severe pain for who knows how long. In rare cases, it can cause the fallopian tube to twist meaning potential emergency surgery. I'm hoping for the first, but wondering i anyone has had experience with them and what your outcome was.

I have PCOS so I'm alllll too familiar with this.
I first found out when I had my appendix out in high school. The surgeon had noticed several small cysts but nothing he was concerned about.
A few years later I woke up in the middle of the night in agonizing back and abdominal pain, vomiting. I too was at several different doctors that day undergoing several different tests. By that evening they'd determined I had an ovarian cyst the size of a football (literally) that had turned over on itself and cut off its circulation. That was what was causing the pain. They admitted me to the hospital (Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Marys) that night and it was laproscopically removed. The surgeon was able to leave both of my ovaries (he'd said most surgeons would have removed either one or both) which was a HUGE blessing.
I've had no major problems other than that one. They put me on BCPs to help control them, so they haven't gotten out of hand since. I still have some small ones here and there buts but they are non-issues and I rarely have pain bad enough to require meds or heat packs.
Don't mean to scare you. Just sharing my experience and hoping it helps some. Like I said, it's mostly nothing bad (at least until we're ready to TTC but I can't think about that right now). If you're concerned about it and the pain is getting worse and worse, I'd definitely look into your options. Good luck!

I am all to familiar with this stuff. six years ago, I was having major issues with my period. I would have pain, cramping etc up to a week before my cycle, and it would last three weeks. THere were times when I would only have one or two pain free days. Went to the doc, and they ordered an MRI after an ultrasound showed some concerning things. It was scheduled three weeks out.
I never made it. One day I was at another appointment, and I suddenly became very ill and couldn't walk. The dr. got me in immediately, and told me to call my OB/GYN. They sent me to the ER immediately. They did an ultrasound and saw that my belly was filled with blood. I was in surgery late that night.
I had to have a laparotomy (incision was across the pubic bone) and I had a very large endometrioma (blood filled cyst) that bleed out. During the surgery they found that I had stage 4 endometriosis. My left ovary was on top of my right and it was not good. I was told I may never have kids. I was blessed about five months later and was able to get preg. with my daughter. She will be my only child due to this disease.
Since then I have had more endometriomas.
I know that my situation may be a larger situation that what you have, but just be aware that you need to go to the ER immediately if you start to have horrible pain. The endo aspect is the area that you may not have (it can only be diagnosed through surgery), but the cysts are very painful also.
