Good thoughts needed...

It isn't anything super serious but Brynn has to go to the eye dr tomorrow because she has started going slightly cross eyed when she looks out to the left. I have a feeling she is going to need glasses for a while to strengthen her eye muscles and I'm worried about it. If so it shouldn't be a big deal ('cause my girl will rock those glasses) but I'm sad at the thought. Any good vibes will be appreciated. (MI girls I will get bCk that post soon. I'm on my phone and don't want to type more. So lazy tonight!) TIA!!

  • Paige, she will be just fine and she will rock glasses if she needs them! This is why M wears glasses. I think its called amblyopia. I should send you a picture of him when he was B's age, he was so freaking cute with his huge 80's style glasses! He was able to wear contacts in middle school and wore them exclusively until recently and now he prefers glasses. I'll be thinking of you guys this morning.

eta, M was a candidate for lasik a couple of years ago, but after talking to the doctor and the advancements they are making he decided to hold off until he was 30 and talk about it again.

  • Aww, I'm sure she'll be fine! K and his brother both have strabismus http://www.strabismus.org/. They both had glasses at young ages. K wears his still, although he had corrective surgery at 18 that fixed it a lot - when he gets super tired, you can see that one of his eyes is a bit "off" when he looks up. His brother wears contacts and it is not noticeable at all with the contacts but his glasses don't seem to correct it as well. It's odd because the brother's strabismus is worse but he was not a candidate for surgery for some reason. I'm sure they have better technology now and it seems like they look for/notice/treat this a lot earlier and have better results these days!

Plus, they have super cute glasses for kids nowadays :-)

  • My coworker was just talking about how she wished she caught her son's eye issues earlier because once they reach a certain age, the muscles can't be retrained.... so it sounds like you've noticed this early! Good luck to you all!
  • GL at the eye doctor, Brynn!  I hope your appt goes well and it's nothing serious.  She will totally rock glasses if she needs them. :)

  • Lots of good thoughts to Brynn. And FWIW, Brody told me that he thinks a chick in glasses is hot!

  • Sending Brynn good vibes. She will totally rock the glasses. My cousin's son had a severe case and had the surgery and the glasses and might need the surgery on the other eye now. He is doing better but it is best to catch it early and it sounds like you are catching it early.
