40th birthday party ideas/locations
Hi ladies!
My DH is turning 40 soon and I want to try and throw a small (30 people or so) surprise party for him.
Can anyone recommend any restaurants in and around Providence that might be good for this ? I had a friend recommend Waterman Grille but havent spoken with them and wasnt sure on the pricing.

I don't know whether it would hold that many, since I've only been once or twice, but Pinelli's in West Warwick had great food. My sister had her after-wedding-dinner (not the reception... that was a month later!) there, and we had two tables of about 10 people each. There were at least 2 other tables in the room we were in, but I want to say there were 6 total tables in that room. It's also a BYOB restaurant.

I had my shower at Waterman Grille and it was great. I also wanted to suggest Cassarinos. We had our rehearsal dinner there and DH has had a few work functions there as well. They have two private rooms and are very accomodating. Great food, prices are reasonable and the portions are huge.
We had my friend's 30th at Snookers. It worked out really well! We rented I think 4 tables for 3 hours. They curtained off the area we were in (not a typical private room, but that was okay!), provided the food (which was good!), and dedicated waitresses. They helped me decorate a bit, too.
We brought the cake. It was a fun party!
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!

I'm stealing some of the ideas on this thread since I am on here looking for venues for my high school reunion
We had our last reunion at the Hi-Hat in Providence which was great - there was a live band, beautiful function room, good apps., but based on their website still be being down I think they are closed (can anyone confirm?).
The other places I was going to look into in Providence that have private function rooms are RiRa (I had my husband's 30th in half the room - it worked out really well - when the event ended 1/2 the group stayed and went to the bar area), Bravo, Local 121, Mediterrano. I also enjoy Cassarino's from PP - I thought that they didn't have a room, but you can have the whole third floor if you have enough people?
I went to a party at Blakes years ago and it was nice, same as prev post said. It was very casual and could play darts and pool. Went to luncheon after an aunt's funeral at Waterman Grille- was really nice.
