poop (partly about poop and partly about baking)

Having a kid has taught me more about poop than I ever thought I needed to know...

I won't be crockpotting brownies today because I need to bake bran muffins with pureed prunes and molasses, and also some oatmeal raisin prune cookies because a certain someone is refusing to poop. He had bad diaper rash last week, and I think he's afraid that if he poops it will hurt him like that again. So holding it in is hurting him more.

My plan is to loosen him up so that he has no choice but to go. We tried his old standby - Miralax - but it seems to be making holding it in hurt more and is not moving things along.

Anyway, since I have to use the oven, I figure I may as well do brownies the quick way. I do have some crockpot brownie instructions bookmarked and will try them out someday:

  • Okay, so this reminds me of a scene in "Doc Hollywood" where there was a constipated kid, and the small-town doctor gave him Dr. Pepper.  That is all I'm going to say about that.

    Good luck.

  • Awww, poor Nate!! My Mom used to give us mineral oil mixed with apple juice. I just looked it up to see if that's outdated and Dr. Sears says that flax oil is a favorite and better than mineral oil. it worked like a charm on us apparently. Lol hope he gets some relief soon!

  • He had a cocktail of equal parts prune juice, apple juice, and water with his cookie this afternoon. He didn't really love the cookies (Rodgers and I do, though!). I think they may have too many flavors for him. He'll take a bite, eat part, and spit the rest out. It doesn't help that he doesn't really want to eat because his tummy hurts. We've had some progress, though. :)

If that little cocktail doesn't work, nothing will!!  It makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it.

BTW those browines are a good idea and sound yummy.
