You know we were looking (went on Good Friday) and then had Easter and then my mom's passing, so the new daycare idea was pushed to the side. Well, my sitter was on vacation last week and I happened to call her about something on Thursday night and she tells me they got a 36 yr old parrot!!! Well gee, thanks for asking if it would be ok with us!!! I had a co-worker in a different city actually die from a disease he got from his parrot. So, no, I'm not ok with birds. If I wouldn't have just happened to call, we wouldn't have found until we dropped her off on Monday! So we had to scramble and checked out 1 more daycare on Friday (it is brand new and had just opened that week) and we loved it! A started there on Monday and she had a blast. We only did half a day and I stayed with her and we did so many activites in 2 hours, I was floored and worn out! We came home after lunch and she slept 3 hours, haha. It has been so great and A seems like a totally different kid. Oh and can you believe the old sitter is totally po'ed at us.. she better LOVE that bird, as it cost her $540 a month! :-P
Re: New Daycare for A!
Personally, if I worked full time there would be no question about it, Davis would be in a daycare center. Kids need interaction with peers and structure. Not that in homes are not good, but I just don't think you always get out of a homecare provider what you get out of a center. But that is just my 2 cents. I also am extremely non-trustworthy of homecare types, I know of too many people who did it in their homes that are complete freaking idiots and I always felt terrible for the kids whose parents sent kids there not knowing really what those people were like.
Davis does 2 half days a week at a center and he loves it!! Yep, I'm a SAHM who sends her kid to daycare twice a week. It has been great for him though to be around peers his age on a regular basis rather than just sometimes for an hour playdate. He gets a good 10 hours a week in a structured environment.
It also helps now that I am back in school.
This is mostly why I didn't like the kids being with an in-home provider, but I was stuck because of money reasons. Just can't control everything.
Glad you all are happy with the new place!
