Re: Classy southern food?
Fried chicken
Chicken fingers
Pimento cheese sandwiches on rolls
Potato salad
Mac-n-cheese
Pigs in a blanket
Meatballs in BBQ sauce
Deviled eggs
Shrimp
Anything Paula Deen makes
Sweet Potato casserole
Corn on the cob
Green beans
Chicken fried chicken (I don't like but it seems southern)
Pinto beans (I don't like but it seems everyone here eats them)
Corn bread
are you wanting finger foods or a sit down meal?
Then you could do:
Chicken fingers (you might be able to buy fried chicken fingers and just heat up day of )
Pimento cheese sandwiches on rolls (pretty simple. You can buy the pimento cheese and then just make the rolls ahead of time and let them cool a little and then slap some pimento cheese on there and call it a day)
Potato salad (store bought is fine)
Mac-n-cheese (you could do a baked mac-n-cheese casserole)
Pigs in a blanket (very simple and can be done in no time)
Meatballs in BBQ sauce (you can do these in a crockpot)
Deviled eggs (these you could make the day of but they are prep so not sure)
Those pinwheel things. You can get them at Sam's and I don't think you have to heat them up so you can pull them out 30 minutes before (or whatever the package says)
Little quiches. Again go to Sam's and get them and pop them in the oven right before
Spinish dip with chips. You can make the dip the day before.
Anything sweet. Again you can make these before hand and you won't have to worry about day of.
I know you love to cook but remember you can go to the store and just buy it and then heat and put on serving dishes (at least that is what I do sometimes)
I agree pimento and cheese sandwiches, chicken salad, veggie tray, fruit tray, cheese tray, cream cheese block with pepper jelly on it, maybe some kind of dip like blt or something like that, cupcakes...not sure about drinks but you could serve lemoade, sweet tea, water, and if you wanted something alcoholic then mint juleps
is there going to be alot of people? i would keep the food "simple" and not do a lot.
I forgot about veggies, fruit and cheese (can you tell I want food besides veggie and fruit).
Keep it simple as you can.
