  •  Oh, man. I totally forgot that today was my turn! Here goes...

    imagekayleeb:

What's your worst fear? I'm sort of a perfectionist, so I'll go with failure/not doing something correctly.

Do you like rollar coasters? Love 'em! I've been trying to plan a trip to Six Flags.

What were you like in high school (prep, goth, nerd, etc.)? I went to an EXTREMELY small high school. We're talking 15 people in my graduating class. When you have so few people, the usual high school categories kind of start to blur. I played basketball and softball, was valedictorian of my class, and was also in FFA. I have no idea what you'd label that. I've often wondered what activities I would've been involved in at a larger school.

    Favorite hobbies? Reading, jogging, yoga.

  • imageSteven&Jamie:

Favorite food? Spaghetti and meatballs. OR fried chicken. OR sushi. :)

Favorite dessert? Anything super chocolatey. My MIL makes this dark chocolate stout cake (made with Guiness) that's super rich and dense. IT IS SO GOOD.

How many kids do you want? Probably two, in addition to my SD.

What's your favorite book? It's a toss-up between 'A Wrinkle in Time' by Madeline L'Engle and 'The Sparrow' by Mary Doria Russell.

Best memory from your wedding? Hmm... probably our vows. I think H and I wrote some pretty great, personal vows. Both of us were (of course) crying, and several people have told me since that it was the most personal ceremony they've witnessed. Getting drunk on homemade sangria and dancing with friends and family at the reception was pretty fun, too. :)

Care to share a couple of things on your bucket list? I've never had a "bucket list" per se, but I guess there are things I'd like to accomplish before I die. I'd like to be a size 4 at some point in my life. I know that's shallow, but I've always struggled with my weight, and it'd be nice to say that I looked GREAT at some point in my life. Other than that, I'd really like to travel. A lot. I'd love to see the UK, Africa, Australia... there are very few places I wouldn't like to go. Lastly, I want to live in a state other than Oklahoma at some point in my life. H has informally agreed that we can move to Maine when my SD turns 18 and graduates HS, but we'll see.

What was your favorite childhood toy? Clip-Clop. This stationary horse that you could ride on that made "clip clop" sounds and neighed. I would sit on that thing for hours.

How long have you been married? How long have you lived in Oklahoma?

We got married October 9, 2010, so... about 10 months.

I've lived in Oklahoma pretty much my entire life. Grew up in rural SW Oklahoma, moved to Shawnee for college for two years, then Norman for college for three years. Lived in China for a year after college, then moved back to Norman/OKC.

Nestie you identify the most with? Tough one! I think I identify with parts of several Nesties. PuppyWuppy and I are both stepmoms. Critti and I have similar views on religion/spirituality. Bluekid said something at one point that made me think she might have similar music taste. Lizzyb shares my love of documentaries. I'd love to meet more of you!

Favorite drink/food? I answered food already; for favorite drink, I'll go with a mimosa if we're talking alcohol. If not, probably Coke or water.

What do you and your H fight about most? Hands down, we fight the most about his ex and SD. H is amazing, but when there's a BM and SD in the picture, it's bound to shake things up a bit. Second runner-up would be money. I'm more of a spender, and H is more practical. Works out well, though.

What's your favorite item? This is dumb, but I recently purchased a new t-shirt, and I am in. love. with. it. It's blue heather, and SUPER soft. It says "local is for lovers." I would probably wear it daily right now if I could get away with it.

If your house was on fire, what are the 3 things you'd HAVE to grab? I'm so weird about stuff like this. I tend to get rid of things, versus keeping anything. I guess I don't get as attached to things as some. That said, I'd grab the pets, my laptop, and ... clean underwear?

Who's your celebrity crush? Charlie Day. HA!

What is your favorite time of day and why? The evening. I hate mornings, and in the afternoon, everyone is busy trying to get things accomplished. The evening is calm, it's getting dark outside, and it's time to hang out and read or watch a movie.

What is your dream car? An Audi A4 Avant. I'm a station wagon geek.

What is your dream job? I have no idea! Haha. I've struggled a lot with what I want to be when I grow up over the years. I love my job now, but I have no idea what I'd choose if education and location and talent didn't matter.

Assuming I can't just wish for a bajillion dollars... I'd wish for a big house in a small town in Maine. I'd wish for a private jet so SD could still come visit every other weekend. Aaand... I'd wish for a better metabolism, so I could eat whatever I wanted and still have a rockin' bod. I've always been super jealous of that.

And thanks! I cannot wait for faaaall!

I am cracking up because I just bought this shirt in black a couple of weeks ago and wore it yesterday.  DD said to me, "You sure have been wearing that shirt a lot lately."  Lol.  It is SO comfy!

  • If your life had a soundtrack, what are three songs that would be on it?

Are there any concerts you are looking forward to seeing in the near future?

What is your favorite local band/musician?

  • imagegingerfeathers:

(forgive all the questions: I'm bored)

Do you have a favorite client or coworker at your job? Why are they your favorite? I did have a favorite client. Said client was a government entity. The new governor appointed a new head of said government entity, and the new person in charge fired everyone. :( I've heard mixed opinions about whether this was smart or not, but the new head person has a totally different opinion of marketing and advertising, so our relationship is definitely going to change. Our rep within this client was so easy to work with. She was super organized, very responsive to emails and phone calls, and just a cool, fun person to talk to. That seems so rare in advertising, so I really enjoyed their projects.

Do you have any irrational fears? Birds really freak me out. I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a "fear," though.

    What's your favorite color? Aubergine.

What's your go-to outfit? I bought a super cute, super comfy royal blue dress from the BR outlet in Maine when we were on vacation, and I've been loving wearing it to work with my nude slingbacks, a cardi, and gold jewelry.

If your life had a soundtrack, what are three songs that would be on it? Ahhh! I both love and hate questions like this, because I'm music-obsessed and indecisive. Okay. I would say 'Magnolia Wind' by Guy Clark for the romantic moments (I walked down the aisle to it); 'Low Rising' by The Swell Season because it's goddamn beautiful; and finally 'July, July!' by the Decemberists, because they're the best band EVAR (and I have to have *something* upbeat). :)

Are there any concerts you are looking forward to seeing in the near future? They Might Be Giants and Dr. Dog are both coming to Cain's in the next few months. I haven't purchased tickets for either, but I'd love to see both.

What is your favorite local band/musician? It's a toss-up between Samantha Crain and Colourmusic. I'm not sure either are considered local anymore, since they've both moved on to bigger and better things, but I loved them both when they were playing small venues around OKC. I've kind of lost touch with the local music scene in the past few years, so I'm not sure who is still around that I'd choose. Ooo, Sherree Chamberlain is lovely, too.

Hilarious about the t-shirt, btw! It really is the best shirt ever. I was torn between the black and the blue, but I wear too much black already. :)

How would you describe your decorating style?

If you could renovate/remodel your current house in some way (no budget restrictions), what would you do?

  • imagejesseandbri:

What is your favorite "date night"? Honestly, take-out, homemade cocktails, and netflix. I guess I'm getting old. :)

If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be? I would've invited more people. I was trying to keep it fairly small, but several people I expected to be there couldn't make it. I also would've made our first dance more fun, or I wouldn't have had one. It was romantic, but awkward to be basically swaying back and forth while everyone watched.

What is your favorite charity? I really love World Neighbors in OKC. I interned there for a few months, organizing info and writing for some of their newsletters, and I've volunteered a couple of times at their events. They have programs in third world countries that educate natives on how to better their situation, instead of just throwing money at their problems.

What's your favorite piece of furniture? I love our leather sectional. H bought it before we were married, but I picked it out. :) It's a very dark brown, almost black, and oh-so-comfy. It's got a chaise on one end, which is nice for lounging.

How would you describe your decorating style? Rustic-modern. I come from a farming/ranching family, so the "rustic" side is in my blood. I tend to prefer clean lines though, so I really love mixing the two. Not many of our rooms reflect this yet, but I'm working on it. Currently trying to decide between these two bedroom sets:

West Elm Stria (I would furnish my entire home in West Elm, if I could afford it)

    Pottery Barn Sumatra II

If you could renovate/remodel your current house in some way (no budget restrictions), what would you do? Ha. Bulldoze and rebuild? Well, we're about to convert half of the garage so we'll have an actual indoor laundry room (our washer/dryer have been in the garage), a new master, and an en suite bathroom. If I didn't have a budget, I'd also build on to the back of the house, so we could have an actual dining room. I'd replace all the windows so our heating and cooling bills weren't through the roof. I'd replace all the doors, b/c ours are cheap and crappy. I'd replace the cabinets in the kitchen, because they're white and have been painted 900 times. I'd hire painters to come in and repaint all the trim (I actually enjoy painting the walls). Finally, I'd purchase giant trees and deposit as many as possible around the house. So yeah... for all of that, I could probably buy another nicer house. :)

The family story is that my dad was trying to put it together on Christmas Eve, but couldn't figure out at that point how to turn off the Clip-Clop noise, so they were really scared I would wake up. The way I sleep, there wasn't a chance that I would even stir! :)
