Kind of odd Q- how to purchase items in NZ?

Our good friends are having a baby- they used to live near us but are now living in New Zealand. We would like to buy them a baby gift, but apparently baby registries are not popular in NZ. It would be cheaper for us to find an online company to order and buy for them (even if it is a GC) from NZ but I am not sure where to get it in NZ. I thought amazon would be in NZ but I cannot find the site. Also, would we be able to use a US-based credit card to make a purchase? Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Kind of odd Q- how to purchase items in NZ?

  • Hi, I am in Christchurch, NZ. Do you know what town they are in? The big Baby stores here are Farmers, Baby City and The Baby Factory. I know that Baby City has an online registry option so maybe you could ask her to do one of those so that you have some idea of what to buy her, or you could get a gift card to one of these stores. We do have amazon shipping options from the American website and the exchange rate is pretty good at the moment, so that would be another option. I am unsure if you could use an american credit card but there is a credit card payment option on www.babycity.co.nz so you could try that. Sorry I can't be more hlep, but let me know if you would like further clarification or need any more help.

Hi, Yes- they live on Papamoa Beach. I'll try looking at your stores you recommended!

  • I would try the sites recommended or just ship something from amazon US to her.

Hi there, I am in Wellington, NZ and I agree with chile_chicken.  There are also lots of little boutique-y shops in NZ as well.  I like babyuniverse.co.nz too; they are an online shop and have lots of stuff.  I think some of the stuff on Amazon USA cannot be shipped to NZ.  I am sure you can use American CC's since I have done it!  Also there are a lot of boutique-y NZ shops too:  funkyfrog.co.nz, daisybaby.co.nz, babystar.co.nz.

P.S. I have some friends that live in Papamoa Beach...was there last Christmas.  So lovely there!
