Re: Engagement rings/wedding sets at an interview

  • Fiiiinnneee... I'll start leaving my Kardashian-esque engagement ring at home.
  • potentially, a very large engagement ring.

Well, it looks like I'm fine to wear mine.  lol.

    Oh wait, I mean this!

  • Ha!  Molly, you're cracking me up.
  • I find it annoying that only women have to think about these things.  Discrimination sucks.
  • Oooh. I can honestly say that I've never, ever, considered this, and the idea that I should have to completely pisses me off. We could not have afforded my rings - and still couldn't if we got engaged today - because it's made of family heirloom stones that XN's grandmother gave to us from her wedding set before she died. They mean more to me than whatever size the diamond is. But I shouldn't have to apologize for, or explain, my rings when interviewing for a job. Presumably I'm there for my accomplishments and merits, not my jewelry. Ugh.

I agree, Chymes (I've said that a lot lately. Whoa :P ). I have a larger than my friends but not huge e-ring. We saved and paid it off in installments. Why should I be judged for my choice? Or my H's choice, actually, because I didn't see it until it was on my finger. I've often thought about it, though, especially because I don't want to seem "taken care of" because I'm not.

    Haha! Whoa, indeed.

I was so worked up about this that I didn't even articulate everything I wanted to say the first time around. AND I just noticed I typed XN's full name! Ha.

I changed it in my quote. It's just not right if it's not XN.

  • I never take my rings off...only to clean them, or if I am working in the yard.  When I had to have some prongs replaced, I cried.  I felt like I was doing something horrible by nt having my rings on. DH laughed at me because of my reaction.  I was surprised by my reaction....but those rings are very sentimental to me.  And I am proud to wear them all the time and even more proud to be married to my husband.
